Once again, breaching the chatroom/forum standard rules of not discussing politics or "religion" on the net, did anyone catch the classic BBC Panorama documentary on the Church of Scientology?
Was a classic, through the general harassment the BBC journalist John Sweeney got in the States, right up to the moment he totally f'in' lost it...

This ran on TT channel 7 here. So ACA, channel 9, owned by a renowned scientologist put up a wishy washy defence.
I smell editorial interference. I'm seriously thinking boycotting channel 9, not that there's much on there I watch anyway.
Meh, whatever I think of that Davis fellow, I'll keep to myself from here. I spoke my mind in chat earlier.
Basically, I just don't like that Davis child. Sweeney had every right to snap the way he did, in my opinion.

The Church Of scientology have done a documentary of their own have they not? Following the panorama crew around filming them, and john sweeny goes nuts in one clip, don't know if its been shown on tv yet though.

Ummmm... no thats the anti-Scientology one with some would be journo adding annoying blue subtitled interludes. The best thing about it is he's condensed a 30 min programme into 10.
The pro-Scientology one was on you tube at the time the programme was broadcast but i think was removed by the organisation.

I think he went wrong by trying to take the Scientologists seriously. Instead of yelling, I think laughing uncontrollably would have come off much better, and would have fit the mood just perfect.

i'm not too religious (roman-catholic... insert joke here)... but i know every one has a right to worship as they wish, but is scientology an actual religion??? do they worship a god??? or some sort of spiritual figure (l. ron hubbard, john travolta or thomas cruise mapother IV)??? what i know is that he was a sci-fi author or something... and i have heard that they have some hokey practices... in certain ways, it reminds me of the l.d.s / mormon religion... but- either way, i try not to push my beliefs on others and i don't appreciate others preaching to me... well- enough of my whining... enjoy this vid...
The church of scientology is first based on a hierarchy, which is decided by how much money you give to the church.
The main "beliefs", if you want to call them that, is that an alien rocketship crashed on Earth millions of years ago. The souls to these aliens have entered the human body, as "hosts". If we listen to these beings than we can recieve happiness???
Granted there's a bit more, but I think that sums it up pretty nicely.

Actually I don't think you're far off. I think alot of people (like cruise) see this as a budding of a new secret society, and they are jump on the train to be seen as the founding fathers of it. I don't really think for a second that any of these fools (at least at the top of the pyramid) believe this crap. Probably one of the best (or worst) pyramid schemes devised to date.

1.I am your God/Thou shalt have no other gods before me 2.Thou shalt not make for yourself an idol 3.Thou shalt not make wrongful use of the name of your God 4.Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy 5.Honor Thy Mother and Father 6.Thou shalt not murder 7.Thou shalt not commit adultery 8.Thou shalt not steal 9.Thou shalt not bear false witness 10.Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife /Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house

I was merely making a correction. You admitted above that you haven't read the Bible, so perhaps you should actually make a study of what you are denigrating so you may actually make some valid points in future.

The "commandments" you posted, were SPOKEN by god, as advice to Moses, (Exodus 20-2-17), Moses then repeats these verbally to the Isrealites when he came down the mountain. The second time Moses climbs Sinai, he is given stone tablets with commandments, which upon seeing his people cavorting round a golden calf, he drops and breaks. Moses then returns to the mountain again and gets replacements, with the words "these commandments I give unto thee". Those STONE TABLETS bear the exact COMMANDMENTS (and remember this is what we are on about, the holy decalogue bestowed to moses by god on stone tablets), which I posted above.

Cambo, there are a few things you are obviously missing. You are being very selective in your choice of quotes to support your case.
First, on the ten commandments, the "thou shalt not kill", means murder. The Hebrew word Tirtsach means kill on an individual level. War is considered as a state or country level, which is a different word. So war does not go against the ten commandments.
in the New Testament Jesus mentions: "Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not sit down first and consider whether he is able with 10,000 men to oppose the one coming against him with 20,000? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace."

The main issue and confusion people have is when he states something like:
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid"
But he is not talking peace as in world peace where all countries are not at war and sing "Kumbaya", but an inner peace, where people are at harmony on an individual level, with themselves and others.
