The RIGHT MORONIC Ruth Kelly today announces that us BRITS should have a national IT'S-GREAT-TO-BE-BRIDDISH, INNIT? day in order to shore up our SUPPOSELY vanishing sense of what it is to be BRIDDISH.
Now, she's also on about a new BRIDDISH Bank Holiday which is fine by me, but won't we all just go and getting bladdered? (NB - this announcement comes on the same day that the Govt. also announces new health warnings about BOOZE in pubs). How BRIDDISH is that???!!??
Also, 'good' citizens apparently win GREAT BRITISH BROWNIE POINTS if we know the words to "God Save the Queen", eat a full English every morning and have bad teeth. However, if you are a 'bad' citizen commit a criminal offence, have brown skin or a non-BRITISH accent, or even dislike random violence on a Saturday night you will lose said points and relinquish your citizenship
The points can be cashed in for a large donner and chips at your local post office, Tuesdays only after 2.30am.
