OMD vs ABC vs Human League

Which band do you guys think is the best between ABC, OMD, and Human League?

Right now I'm seriously digging the best of HL and can't stop listening to I wanna be tall and Love Action. But love OMD as well, saw them live in '88 at the Rose Bowl in Passedena when they opened for DM. So in Love, Forever Live and Die and Messages are my favorite tracks. If you leave is overrated shite though. As for ABC, used to like them a lot. Be Near Me, and When Smokey Sings are fucking A-C-E!!!!

Dont think ABC ever really survived the 80's, they made a few good tracks though. Hard to call between the others, but OMD probably just nudge infront.

Back to topic, my fave of all 3 has mostly been OMD, with the Sheffield contenders(ABC/Human League)lagging behind(although Martin Fry is actually a Manc by birth).

And as a supplement to this post, Martin Fry has appeared on and cowritten a dance track with some guys called Sonic Hub, the song being called New Man which in parts is a thinly veiled cover of Cars by Gary Numan(Gazza cops credit in the songwriters bit of the credits thank goodness).

FFS, Premise A: New Order were around in the UK in the 1980's Premise B: New Order sometimes used electronic instruments.

Conclusion, New Order fans must all like every shitty synthpop pervert ensemble to exist between Rockall and Jersey from 1980-1990.

The thing is that I probably listened to some of that stuff when I was 13, but I grew out of it, unlike New Order.

OMD by far, but I still listen to ABC when no one's looking. Human League is for hairy-butt-scratchers.

These sort of threads always seem to depend on whether the poster is a Brit or not. The rest of the world seems to lump all Brit 80's music together, whereas to any Brit NO are clearly from a totally different lineage to any of the above.
That said, for some reason I still have soft spot for early OMD, having failed to grow out of them as I realise I should.

Was very tempted to go and see OMD when they played the Apollo recently but at £27.50 a ticket (before the booking fee) I wasn't too sure if that would be good value to see some middle aged guys trying to recapture the spark that made them momentarilly great in the first instance. Andy McClusky doing that flowerpopt man dance to Maid Of Orleans now at 50 years old would be a bit sad really.

Too many 80s bands are reforming even now - I mean, the Police as well.... what's the story?

OMD and ABC for me are just average so-so bands. None of their tracks became my favorite songs maybe except for The Look of Love and If You Leave for a time. For the Human League, I love most of their singles, at least.

Absolutely agree. I wish they'd ALL fuck off. I saw Devo at Sonar last week and it was really painfully bad... I liked OMDs first album when I was about 12 but none of their stuff really stands up now. ABC I always hated. Human league's first two albums are good but there was much better electronic experimental music out there.

Never really liked ABC, Human League have got a slight edge over OMD in that they still do new material. SECRETS was as easily as good as any of their old stuff...well maybe not circa-Ware,Gregory period but pretty darn good.

OMD though still rock live!
