Might be worth seeing, I think Transformers is possibly the most retarded concept ever, sort of Thunderbirds for the mentally challenged. However, I do have this thing for War of the Worlds and there may be some good shots of big machines in cities.
As for the 2CV ad parody, load of shite, it would have bounced from that height, and even if it HAD ended up looking like that....it'd still drive away.
i have to say i was quite skeptical about this when i first heard about it, but upon seeing trailers and clips the special effects look amazing, which in a film like this is either what makes it or breaks it.
Now i'm looking forward to the double whammy of Simpsons on the 26th and transformers on the 27th

Rest assured, it 'makes' this movie.
Best special effects ever.

Thats all i'm bothered about i don't expect a good story or good acting just some big summertime explosions.
Can you really tell they are robots in the movie...for me, in the trailers, they seemed like a huge cyclone of metal parts flying around, and couldn't make out where the head was.....

I will probably be stupid enough to buy some of these toys.
I loved them when I was a kid, destroyed at least once and couldn't get my parents to buy me any, so this time it's revenge time ![]()
Hehe... ah, for the kid in me ;)
There's another Transformer movie? Didn't one already come out in the late '80s? Does anyone actually remember these toys? Or are they experiencing a revival like those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

Or men trying to look like birds.

Though it was a goddawful shite idea for a film, but the trailers are amazing!
God...a MICHAEL BAY film that's looking forward to seeing.
Like the fighter jets that turn into robots and swing from bridges.![]()
I missed out on Transformers toys... is there actually any real story to the "Transformers universe"? That deserves to be made into a more serious big budget movie?
Just seems really kinda lame to me... not cartoon/ anime/ Japanese enough to be absurd fun, not dark enough to be interesting/arty/scary. Just some lame bland safe way to market an action movie with toy products.

Err, it is "Transformers" we're discussing here.
Rather than use CGI, did you think perhaps they should've engineered giant 50ft robots that really do transform into trucks? Or construct little miniature prop models and sets and film it all in tiny scale? Ain't really gonna wash with today's movie-goer.
If you accept that massive CGI is a non-negotiable and accept the inane Transformers universe for what it is, there are plenty of big, dumb, visceral blockbuster thrills to be had. As opposed to other recent lame ducks like Pirates, Spidey 3, etc.
I'm no big fan of CGI nor Michael Bay product. Films like Pearl Harbour stank. Hell, the movie I saw prior to this was Dead Girl. But I'll give Bay credit where credit's due.

Seen it on one of those dodgy dvd's. Picture was crap but seeing as it has Megan Fox in it i stuck with it. And lads, it was worth the wait! Eye candy of the highest order!

It was always obvious that the toys came first and they created a story around them second, so no its not a real kicker of a story. This movie, though, I don't think was made as a marketing scheme to force toys down our throats. I think Bay is doing this to revist memory lane and do a movie he wanted to do since he was a kid. I don't think there's been any newer toys that hold a candle to the old Transformers. They were the best toys ever made:D
What a weird movie, almost like Michael Bay making a parody of his style. Kinda fun but still repulsive much of the time, wouldn't want to sit through it again to be honest. Funny at times but often cringeworthy. Definitely the best moments are with the Transformers, but the end action is so convulated you can't really tell whats going on enough to care. The "bad guys" never really get their proper attention. The female love interest storyline is so cynically cliched and superficial, it makes you wonder if it is suppossed to be a joke by the director, or whether Bay has serious romantic issues or something. Meh.
I watched an episode or two last night, and I could not watch it all the way through.
It's so fucking retarded.
I only remember Transformers cartoon series... eh Japanese? Anyway I've always thought the concept is very boring. I'm actually surprized that someone decided to make this movie.
Transformers were awesome and then became really trippy after the movie, the animated one. YOu had to have watched the movie to follow the daily cartoon. However, this movie looks to be the perfect popcorn movie. I do have issues with Bumblebee being a camero and not a VW bug. Starscream, oh yeah.
Saw this yesterday, fuck me it sucked
i can honestly say i've never been so bored in my entire life, the special effects were good but that was it.
