Well, here in the Philippines, there's also an alcohol ban before and during elections.
Elections here are always on the second Monday of May, unless we change our 1987 constitution. So the liquor ban starts on 12 midnight Sunday up to 12 midnight Tuesday. So that's 48 hours.
So on the Saturday night before the elections most bars who follow the law serve only alcohol up to 12 midnight. After 12, or Sunday early morning, if you go around the bars and see a bar full of people, that means they are serving alcohol even beyond 12 mindinght!:)
I think the reason for the alcohol ban is when your drunk, you are a little proned to violence, and what they are avoiding is election-related violence. You know here in the Philippines, the 3Gs are important to win a seat: Guns, Goons, and Gold, especially in the provinces.
Anyway, mr. Nooligan is right. Why didn't you hoard alcohol in your house? Anyway, are you gonna vote and/or are you a candidate?
Just kidding amigo.
Indeed!
