Great night at the Ritz, Mcr last night.
The Mondays did more of the old faves than recent gigs and Ryder was as chatty as I've seen him between songs. There was a lot of love in the room for the band and they were clearly lapping it up.
The recently-introduced smoking ban was largely ignored and, judging by the nick of a lot of the people around me, so were a lot of bans that have been in force for a while.
Dunno about the 24 Hour Party People, 24 minutes is about my limit these days - my legs are fcuked today. Still, was nice to forget the shite of the past few weeks and jump around to them old tunes again.
After 24HPP, Loose Fit, Kinky Afro, Step On and the best of the new songs, the finale could have only been WFL, which went down a storm. I'm sure the roof lifted by a couple of inches towards the end. Lots of smiling faces as the lights went up.
Strangest bit: some Lemmy lookalike staggering onto the stage for a chat with Ryder halfway through the gig. Not sure what that was all about.
Another strange bit: My white trainers were virtually unmarked after the gig, despite being quite near the front and jumping around like a bastard. I'd pretty much written them off as ruined before the lights went up. Such are the benefits of a dancefloor that's kept nice and clean between events. Well done to the Ritz. What a shame a fcuking parrot had to shit all over them them this afternoon. Anyone got any sage and onion?
Best Bit (for me): the whole night was like my own episode of This is Your Life. I saw loads of people I've not seen for years. Really made my night.
Sad to see from Hooky's blog that New Order were supposed to be playing that night.
