Finally snagged a copy of Super Highways and Other Two &You...I have been looking for this forever.....and its exactly as terrible as I expected!

Hmm , yeah.Probably Super Highways (the track) and the River are the only tracks i rate from Super Highways.Tasty fish , the Greatest Thing , Selfish (great song) , Innocence and Loved It from Other Two And You .You know there's a hidden track on Other Two And You? With samples from the Play At Home doc
I actually think 'The Other Two & You' is a great album. 
'Superhighways' isn't as good, but it's not so bad either.
As a couple of mates of mine have remarked on hearing the Other Two.....

I actually prefer Superhighways,shame it wasn't marketed better than it was.There's some strong songs on their which would have made good singles.The title track,plus UNWANTED and RIPPLE.

'Unwanted' is a class track there, Monty!!
Though my personal fave on that album is 'New Horizons'.

Can't imagine I would've got into New Order if Gillian was the lead singer...
Anyways, everyone can sing better than our Bernand*. Still doesn't stop us all listening to him. That's the beauty of New Order.

All those that love the other two, would you really listen to it if it wasn't a NO side project??? I mean the music is ok, but has a NO beat to it. If it wasn't for that I would toss it.

I personally like Superhighways better than The Other Two & You. I do play Wierd woman and The river frequently in my car. My only complainment has to be U can fly, but the remixes were actually pretty nice at the time.

Well, the reason i wanted to listen in the first place was because of the NO connection, BUT the reason I still enjoy the 2 albums now is simply because I've become a TheOtherTwo fan.
As for which album I prefer - I've got 6 tracks from TOT&Y on my MP3-thingie, and 8 tracks off Superhighways, but I just tried to pick my 5 fave tracks & got 3 from TOT&Y and 2 from Superhighways - so both work for me
T'other Two are my fave group of all the group's spawned by NO. I realise that maybe an unpopular view but are they perhaps the only ones who really exceeded expectations?.
Bernard and Johhny Marr, key creative forces of standard-setters NO and The Smiths, but could they really expect to collaborate and outshine their previous work?. Good albums granted but it was too much to ask.
Hooky's bass truly belongs in one place only. His sound is so memorable and distinct it leaves a trail whereever it goes. A trail that looks, feels and smells NO. Inject it in another track and invariably its a gold ring in pigshit.
But who knew what to expect when TO2 stepped out?. That they almost gave Kim Wilde a break from tending her herbacious borders indicates that maybe not even they did. Gillian's unexpectedly tuneful voice over those synthetic farmhouse symphanies was a surprise and welcome bonus from the NO sabbatical years. Still can't help but wonder if NO have secretly missed the unique Mr&Mrs Morris axis slightly more than any of them will publicly admit.

I've actually grown very, very fond of the song 'New Horizons' [from Superhighways]. It became a grower. Now I think it's a very sweet song. :)
I'll also admit, I'm addicted to 'Loved It [The Other Track]'. 
Makes me want to find the nearest dance floor, every time.

Sunshine, you've made me want to dig out Super Highways!. Will be giving those tracks extra special attention.
Last time I played TO2 was in LeggyDs and my hotel room, somewhere in Brazil. But it didn't last long. If memory serves, he booted it off the player pretty sharpish for Interpol or some such.

Was Superhighways actually ever released? I remember getting it from Vinyl Exchange in Manchester but it has a promo sticker on sleeve and disc. I've never actually seen it in HMV etc, even though i still see The Other Two & You now and then.

Yes, it was released.
But when someone seriously confuses the Record Company's distribution of a full release with that of a promo you get an idea why it didn't really sell.

I've always wondered why London did such a hatchet job on the promotion for Super highways as well; did they not want a return on their investment or something? On the supposed day of release I faithfully trundled into Dundee HMV and couldn't find it on any of the new releases shelves. Eventually spotted a lone copy retailing for £17.99 in the "O" section.

TOT as an entity produced at least a handful of quality pop songs of which Selfish, Tasty Fish (Pascal 12") and Unwanted are my favourites. The first album had bits of lightweight filler which was about my only complaint while the second album had the "heurghaa Bodyform!"-esque You Can Fly ruining the start.
I still think if you remove YCF then the second album is the better one in terms of consistency and overall quality.
The Grave's a good track to stick on in a darkened room 
Cant see the OT albums were put out as anything other than a carrot to get New Order on the books. Most of the stuff could've turned up on Republic really, Vicious Circle could be the Other Two.
