Yes - according to todays Guardian (Wednesday), FOPP is set to return with six key stores reopening (Glasgow, Edinburgh, MANCHESTER, Nottingham, Cambridge and London Covent Garden) after HMV [well who else could it be this late hour of the day?] have agreed to buy six of the most profitable branches but retain the FOPP imprint and brand. It will also resurrect its online store. 
This is great news and thankfully is what I was hoping to hear ever since the untimely closure of all the countrys branches all of a sudden a month ago.
The Guardian article continues:
"The rescue of shops in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Nottingham, Cambridge and London leaves FOPP's administrators, Ernst and Young, with 75 more to sell - not as going concerns, given that HMV nhas the rights to the FOPP name and will use it for its six shops. Keeping the 25-year old brand a live would preserve a "unique identity and trading culture", said HMV...
"These stores will operate independently of the main HMV chain in order to preserve their distinct customer offer. FOPP is well regarded by many music and entertainment consumers, enjoying strong local awareness and appeal, and were pleased that we will b able to preserve the brand and product offer through the stores and online..."
Now that is good news isn't it?

Let's hope this time round they don't start biting off more than they can chew and then go through the same old rigmarole again. But at least here's hoping they keep the prices lower than HMV's principal outlets anyway....otherwise it wouldn't be the same.
Time to get out the champagne then, anyone? ;)
