What is the best Audio Editor program I can download for my mp3s???

If you type it in the search engine line, there are a number of programs what will appear. What I need is an Audio Editor that can split tracks/files.

Please tell me which one is the best.

Legally? Audacity (from sourceforge, where you should ALWAYS go for free software, but take care as none of the really good stuff runs on windows)

Semi legally?

"ProTools free" (if you can still find it and if you can run it)

downright wrongly? Wavelab or protools

Anyhting that is free! Or a trial version. I had before in this nokia mobile softwares, but I was not satisfied.

What I need is an Audio Editor that can split tracks/files.

definiteily audacity then.

Can't remember if the windows version does mp3 by default, think so but.

No it doesn't, but all you need is the LAME encoder installed to make it work.

Adobe Audition has a 30 days demo.

It's a great tool.

That's what I use all the time.

I use Adobe Audition (former CoolEdit). But it's kinda big, not sure it's available online.

I'll probably download Audacity first. If I'm not satisfied, I'll try Adobe Audition. I need to delete a lot of crap first in my HD.
