Saxondale , new series tonight

Twas a bit poor, like the last series. Only thing that makes me watch it is a saucy Morwenna Banks.
Still Game was miles better.
Saxondale is one of those comedies that has one or two funny lines but overall is just really mediocre.
The guy who was Michael in I'm Alan Partridge's character just served no purpose; humorous or otherwise.
Is it just me or was this show always just one massive in-joke for progressive rock fans?

What he said.
Also agree with Ally, Still Game is the bollocks. I watched the first 5 series last weekend ![]()
Watched saxondale for the first time last night,
no bad, mare shite than good though, Still Game wiped the
floor with it ![]()

Gutted I can't find a bigger picture of her. Can safely say I would marry Morwenna's character in a heartbeat!

Still Game though, gents? What the fcuk is that doing on Engerlish TV? Utter pish, as you might say. Right up there with Take the High Road.
Thought we had Hadrian's Wall to keep this sorta thing out?

At least the copy of Mojo Saxondale was buying in a newsagents was the one with Ian Curtis on the cover!
I like Still Game although last night's episode was a bit maudlin. Comedies in my book should not feature people having heart attacks. However, all the Scottish banter in Still Game at least educates me for reading posts by the likes of Shug. In fact there was a character in the series called Shug (so I looked it up in Google - never realised Shug is Scottish for Hugh!!).
Aye, Hugh is one's real name. Though the only people who call me it are the women in the family. Last night's episode wasnae great, but the ending was ![]()
Dunno whether I'll be tuning intae Saxondale next week though. I suffered the whole of the first series hoping it would get better.
Bring back Partridge ![]()

Bring back Partridge
most defo. his high point.

I watched it for the first time last night. It was OK, better than reality tv shite. The teasing of his neighbour about the Pink Floyd / Genesis album was the funniest point for me, as was the picture of the naked suffragette. Still, its a 'slow-burner' as they say in TV parlance

Yep that was a good scene
Still Game ? Never heard of it
Missed that somehow but i looked it up and it sounds alright , yeah.Is it still on or was that the last one last night?
Just watched Saxondale, thought it was good.
Darran's right about it being a slow-burner though, but then most character-based comedies are. I watched the entire first series through just recently though, and I think that helps.
I tell you what is a genuinely shit comedy though. Grown-ups on BBC3. That is just Two Pints of Lager dressed up in another name - they've even got a silly mixed-race girl with a squeaky voice to keep the continuity. Utter shite.
Speaking of the 'difficult' second series, I just watched the first of the IT Crowd and it was bloody funny, compared to the whole of the first series, which was pants.

Last night was the end of the sixth series matey, hopefully there will be a seventh. The first five series are available in the shops in a 5 disc box set. Well worth the purchase ![]()

Comparing Saxondale to Still Game is like comparing cat's piss to a fine wine, apples to oranges etc etc. Still Game is a work of true genius. Saxondale is an exercise in the very worst of Oxbridge-esque character "humour" which at the end of the day just ISN'T FUCKING FUNNY.
I agree that Still Game shouldn't be networked though...fucking wasted on Southerners who find Saxondale funny![]()

Just looked at a clip on YouTube and it looks well funny ,yeah.Fcuked if i know how i've never seen it before. How many of the six series have actually been shown in England?
I keep thinking what point/purpose does Saxondale's assistant add to the show? He just spends each episode looking permanently gormless while adding the odd bit of (unfunny) dialogue. I take it he's meant to be the straight man to Saxondale's zany outbursts?
The first series had its moments but IMO you can't make a truly great half hour comedy out of four witty lines of dialogue and endless prog rock jokes.
Coogan's output has always been a bit inconsistent though... for every I'm Alan Partridge there's a Parole Officer.
I quite like both "Still Game" and "Two Pints Of Lager..." but yeah, "Grown Ups" is absolute shite... (Even if it does have the tasty blonde bird from "Two Pints" in it)! :p
Haven't managed to catch any of Saxondale yet, but might, considering it's supposed to be set in Stevenage! ![]()

Ditto.
Despite the fact that it's best character, Chris Morris, actually appears to have left the series.

And Katherine Parkinson - who looked a little fox in the first series - er, doesn't in this one. Can't work out why - think it's her hair, the new goings on with her fringe just don't it for her face.
Had a look at IT Crowd .It wasn't that bad , aye.I seem to recall watching the very first one of the first series and finding it utterley brainless and shite.Which is one of the reasons why i could never get my head round Chris Morris being involved with it
