got so bored today that i took a look at a nool blog. Kershaw raised a good point in his response. Why do people feel a need to share their personal bizness to the rest of the world?
EDIT: dont mean to start a fight.. just curious.

Thats exactly it. Except, they can't be that interesting or they would have the time to write an effing daily blog.

For many people, it's a catharsis. It's not because they think they're more interesting than the rest of us. I suppose we all need to release our feelings in some way and some people choose the 'blog' as their vehicle to do so

and so they can express their useless feelings and opinion on script.
My blog is a self defense against my mother claiming, "You never tell me what you're up to." So, I set up a blog, showed her how to access it, and I put stuff up there. It's for her and it cuts down on the nagging. Really, it's brilliant.
I have blogs just to keep track of how much I have changed. My blogger blog (audiopostings deleted) chronicles my college years. My myspace blog would have will have bits of nostalgia, too.

I agree with the catharsis part, but what's with beer?

I know mine isn't going to appeal to millions of people, so I have mine to get back in the habit of writing. I was quite good at it in school, but sadly I'd neglected that part of life in the last few years.
No deep personal manifestos on mine, I also use it to chronicle the ridiculous things I see around me, jot down some details in events and things that may be forgotten in time, and to vent a bit for being a fan of both the Mets and Spurs (getting some exercise in that of late)....![]()
I always assumed they were the modern digital service for the sort of person who once would have had a huge diary with "my VERY private special diary, keep out on pain of death" that was left open on the coffee table perpetually.
I think it is better to explain with visual aides.....helps the mind in other way that discussion just can't

Why do people have a blog indeed? What's so different to posting your thoughts here, day after day?! ![]()
S'pose most people are reacting to something and giving their thoughts - having a 'conversation' to a lesser degree - bloggers are just offering up their opinions without being prompted.
Shirley it's nothing more inane than that?
Bloggers probably talk to themselves too though, natch.

I don't have a blog cos I'm entirely aware of how dull my life is, and also 'cos I'd compare it to the quite interesting serious blogs out there by people who actually know something about something (politics and economics and stuff).
But maybe people just like the process of writing and expressing themselves? It's possible to write in an interesting way even about boring things if you are good enough. Admittedly most bloggers aren't, but people have to practice somehow.
