Just back from a week in Tenerife, my fourth visit in the last ten years..... Now I like globetrotting to far-flung exotic cities, experiencing new cultures, spending days wandering the streets, eating the food, watching the people etc etc. But sometimes all you want is a nice hotel, garaunteed sunshine, a Daily Record and full English Breakfast EVERY morning and a few pints of an evening in a bar which shows Sky Sports all day then Big Brother at night.

No need to go on the web to juggle flight times with room availability and worry about how to get from A to B to C and how to do it for a reasonable price. £350 got me a week's half board in a (proper) 5-star hotel with direct flights from Glasgow and transfers included. Trying beating that on Expedia.com.

So let's hear it for the much maligned Great British Package Holiday.... Sometimes it's just what the doctor ordered. :thumb:

even in Thailand recently, i was on the hunt for an English boozer and a paper. a photcopy of the daily star for 200 baht. :skeptic: the bbc or liverpool echo online is just not the same. one boozer even had sky news. i got fed up with CNN and BBC World.
