Deed waynes

Four kids have croaked playing sports here in the last WEEK, and some geezer for the GAA (like the FA but for Oirish games like Gaelic footy and Hurling), has come out and said that other kids should not be put off and should still take an interest in sport.

Really???????

Can you imagine reading....

"Following the deaths of four ravers from taking pills, police are saying that other young people should not be put off trying out class A dance enhancers."

Ahhhhh the human race, illogical self serving liars the lot of em.

What we need is a Leah Betts style pair of thick parents on TV yelling.... "ban Gaelic footy, it's evil, stop it now before more die. People do not realise that these so called recreational "sports" are deadly and that unless kids start to spend more time vegging in from of the telly, they'll ALL end up dead".

Actually I guarantee if you look up Gaelic games related deaths for the week vs drug deaths for the week in NI, you'd probably find 4-nill in favour of geting high and staying sat down.

Well, that quote sums up the GAA in my opinion anyway :banghead:  oh yes, also, bigoted & ignorant are words i've used to describe them! Glad I follow the soccer here instead:thumb:

I don't understand the problem here. Are you suggesting that exercise is unhealthy, or that kids should not be encuoraged to exercise?? My understanding is that these kids had a pre-existing medical condition, such as a congenital heart defect, and that this is what killed them. I think that they need better medical screening before allowing kids to play sports, not to discourage every kid from playing sports because 0.5% of them have some kind of congenital defect that puts them at risk for death.

Its in this quote: "eight of these deaths happen in the British Isles every week," he said.

"It is a staggering statistic and something that people don't take into account - it is more of a health issue than a sports issue." indicative of the GAA attitude of 'its not our fault, its not our problem, just give us your money, we won't give anything back' attitude.

That is a lot of deaths, and yes, it does seem like they're not as concerned with the deaths as they should be. I agree that they're trying to pass the blame. They're at least partly at fault for not having more thorough medical screening, since they are aware of the eight deaths per week statistic. I do find it hard to believe that there are that many kids with medical problems, though. I took his word for it that the deaths were all from pre-existing medical conditions (this stuff happens in the States every once in a while) but at eight deaths per week there is probably more to it than that.

Drugs, in my experience, make for a far worse spectator sport than sport itself.

The back pages of the world's newspapers would be briefly entertaining, but would rapidly loose their readership if they were filled with the non-antics of drug users instead of Sport.

Champion dope smoker Carl Wretch descended into fits of giggles at yesterdays chill-out at his mate Shaun's house yesterday. Carl, who had been at the chillum again, went through to the kitchen to get himself a glass of water, but came back empty-handed after staring at the lightswitch in the bathroom for a near personal best time of 16mins 5.33 seconds. He came back into the lounge to ask his friends why he had left the room in the first place. None of them could remember so he sat back down and loaded the bong. After a good, long toke he sat back in his chair and announced "I need a drink of water, man" then laughed for, like, ages. Sadly his time was not recorded as someone had fucked off with the watch.

Sponsorship would probably stop being the massive source of income as well.

Hard to see any large company wanting to see it's name plastered accross the hoodie of a smack-starved housebreaker as he forces his skinny frame through the half-open window of the doctor's surgery.

Not sure yous'uns have got my point.

If the activity is "government approved" then 4 deaths in a week is nothing to worry about. But if it's NOT on the approved list of activities, then to hell with pre-existing medical conditions or any other mitigating factor.

Just saying there seem to be two sets of values in play here.

Never mind Gaystyle Football: what about alcohol as an example of Government hypocrisy?

The government's advice is to drink in moderation - no talk of not drinking at all. There are even regular discussions about whether the odd alcoholic drink may be beneficial. My Doctor (although not a spokesman for the Government, he is in their employ) once told me to go home, get to bed and get a good dram down my neck when I had the flu.

Outright banning of drugs means that they are unable to provide advice about what may constitute 'safe' intake levels, or to provide other advice that may be useful to people using drugs (safety advice when buying them, for example, or information about how to identify dangerously cut drugs or to differentiate between the effects and possible harm that may be done by missing drugs).

Any suggestion that a banned drug may be beneficial is stamped on straight away, or certainly regarded with suspicion. The weight of evidence to support claims that cannabis could be used to treat certain illnesses must make proper investigation worthwhile, yet the killjoys seem to spend all of their time concentrating on extracting the beneficial components while removing the 'side effects'. FFS: the man's dying, at least let him get stoned!

Personally, I blame these new 'Predator' style football boots with the longitudinal studs for the increase in knee and foot injuries in football. There seems to be a marked rise in players injuring themselves by simply attempting to change direction.

And that, gentlemen, is how you get girls to kiss you on the lips

Colin you have to PAY them £40 to kiss you on the lips.

But you are wise no less.

I must say a wee toot works wonders as an antinauseant, it was the only thing that could keep my pills down. And to think for years, I thought all those medical users were just trying it on.

A bit bottle of stinky stuff works a treat as well

Are you all better now? You've not gone on and on about it for a while.

Getting there, they FINALLY gave me the toxic pills they'd been goading me with for ages, and they aren't quite as bad as they tried to make out. And they ARE actually doing some good!!

All being well, I'll be sore bit AND pill free in time for ReOrder at Ashton, as well as this Monaco gig if it happens.

Mind you, it remains to be seen if I have done irepairable damage to my party bone, I may be rendered a permanent numpty.
