How do you guys feel about the iPhone and the new iPods?

I don't understand the point of having an iTouch if it's exactly an iPhone without a phone. And the colors for the new iPod shuffle and the iPod nano are hideous! I wonder why Steve Jobs changed the color scheme from neon to pastel. I'm not so sure if green, or periwinkle purple (or whatever) would sell. I'm happy with the neon green iPod nano, which I bought for my last birthday. I have no plans to buy the iTouch or the iPhone. I respect Apple for making computers, though. I got myself a white MacBook a few days ago. Way better than the IBM.

Also, have any of you received an iPhone discount from Steve Jobs (after customers complained)?

First of all, everyone is entitled to his/her own preference! You are not required to have or buy one. If you don't like the iTouch or iPhone, then don't buy it.

Then, if you find the new colors of iPod Nano hideous, then so be it your opinion. You have to understand, corporations spend much on research and development, and is continuously getting and looking for feedback and complains from its customers and markets to make their products better. Before they make a decision, they ask people. So, will the green or periwinkle purple would sell? Probably yes. Probably, these are few of the colors that their R&D found out that would sell because people have their own preferences.

You have to remember that mobile phones and pagers used to be either black or gray only. But then, people wanted it colored, so they came out interchangeable covers/housings.

So that is the point that you don't understand. Duh!

And of course it only works in certain parts of the USA, nowhere else.

(well SOME of it's functions do, but it uses a silly protocol that only AT+T support AND they're the only company big enough to offer a decent tarriff to cope with it's huge data volumes even if other providers supported the protocol[1])

[1] I never get the way the US can built space shuttles yet be so technically backward in so many fields.....Eg....US cars use a suspension system that was abandoned in Europe before cars even existed, it was used mainly on ox carts.

I still don't get why my car (2007 brand new model due to the fact my old one was stolen) didn't have something to plug it in.

So I got the FM transmitter from Belkin.

Great, but almost every damned frequency in Montreal is taken... so you never have perfect reception... :(

But indeed, the iPod is the perfect thing for music in a car... just wished there was an easier way to navigate through the albums, I mean, it's pretty long to skip to "N" when you have 5000 tunes on it.

Would you say the FM thing is better than the old magnetic inducers you used to get to plug CD's in to the tape player (though I suspect your car will have a CD not a tape if it's new)

I don't have an iPod too, and I have no plans of getting one either. But of course, I won't bother if someone will give me one.

I carry 3 mobile phones (from 3 different networks): 1 Nokia Communicator, 1 mini-PC phone with stylus, and 1 'smaller' music phone with a 1GB SD card, the last one is my music phone. I'm still thinking if I'm gonna get a N91 8GB to replace my music phone, but then, I will have 3 big mobile phones that I bring all the time. That is why I don't have an iPod. Anyway, I don't mind changing the tracks of my 1GB SD card 2-3 times a week. At least, I have a new playlist from time-to-time.

Oh yes...with a 40 hour battery life...I don't know if that means they are trying to tell me that it can play 40 hours at a time, or if it will need another battery after 40 hours...

probably the latter...

I have 8,000 songs on my Ipod and still have 20 gigs of space left!! The only changes I made were I got a pair of noise canceling headphones (hate ear buds) and found a unit for $30 (usually over $100) to plug my 'pod into my home stereo.

The Iphone is a decent PDA crappy phone. The AT & T network is a farce. I have a Motorola RAZR and am fine with it.

Though would my USA bound phone work if I went to Europe?

Where'd you order it from? Is it incoming from the good ol' US?!

Is it actually smaller than the current 80gb video iPod?

And is it really only in a metal finish??

So many questions, so little time!

Oh, and I forgot to tell you guys how I feel about the new iPhone and the new iPods....

I get an erection every fucking time I think of them, and then have to find a picture of Fradders so I can....well, I think you kids get my drift....

Nah, Apple UK - UPS should (in theory) be delivering it tomorrow - they forgot to use the doorbell on Tuesday, and so my brother (who was in the garden) didn't hear them knock... (Use Royal Mail, people - at least you can then go and pick up the parcel if out)! :shades:

Good question on whether it's smaller - don't *think* so?

Yup, metal finish - either in silver or black, no more white iPods!

motorola RAZR phones ROCKS, specially the new (model) RAZR. it's worth getting.

it would not work unless you have a sim card in your phone. and it all depends on your carrier.

Got myself an iPhone in the US couple of weeks ago and unlocked it t'other day. Nice design but the phone side of it is dissappointing, niggly things like text messaging etc. Not bad for the price tho, and orks great in the Dension iPod adaptor in the car ....... no more cd's lying about.

I've got an iPod, but I only use it for when I need an NO fix. [As in, it's only got NO in it.] Meanwhile I still prefer my c.d. player, as I've got no patience [or a decent paycheck :uhoh:] for an iPod with, God willing, all my music in it. And having over 300-400 c.d.'s...

 I'll stick to making mix c.d.'s for myself and friends, thank you very much.

Otherwise, I just have a cell with a camera and text/IM. That's all the fancy phone stuff I really need.

The iPhone doesn't really look like much use to me, but that's my opinion. And touch-screens!? I'll stick to my *soon-to-be-here* touch-screen computer at work!!

...someday I'll eventually graduate to an iPod... :evil4:

The only thing NO related on it is the Best Remixes. The rest of it is a collection of post-punk downloads that I've found elsewhere. But I do use my iPod nano to get my post-punk fix.

People used to pay a lot more for their sound systems prior to that... now, a little thing that costs 300$ and a decent pair of speakers will do.

Some people say 120 GB is way too much, well, this gives you actually the chance to put your songs in a loseless format... which is not bad.

Plus, if you use video, that's starting to use a lot of space.

To be honest, I really dig the iPod touch... so I should stay away from electronic stores when it will be actually available.
