Since discovering the joys of Audiogalaxy, I've been plauged by the GAIN / Gator spyware that comes with it.

Does anybody know how to neutralise it? I'm going to try an application called "Ad Aware" when I get home this evening, but any other hints in the meantime would be appreciated.

I had this a year or so back.

Just put 'Gator' and 'unistall' into any search engine and you should get your answer.

Old Bluey, I once had Ad Aware on my pc and it caused nothing but problems, as this too spies on what websites you visit etc. amongst other nasty things. DON'T DO IT MATEY

Bluey - I think what you're describing has to do with the AG Satellite installation. You might need to uninstall the satellite (and assocoated rubbish like Gator etc), then re-install, being carefull to not tick any of the "shall I spam you incessently?" boxes. I ended up with a nasty little bastard called WebTracker on my first install, which was bundled in with the satellite installation. Took me a while to discover how to lose that one. CTB :cool:

Well, Candy, I took your advice. Uninstalled the satellite and manually deleted all further folders and files that referred to "gain" or "gator".

Re-installed the satellite, and whilst there wasn't an option to "not install" the gain software, it certainly appears not to have made it back on to my system.

Candy,that's exactly what I did with that infernal Gator crap, which I have since discovered that no one has said a kind word about. A pox on them.

Glad the comments were of some help - although sadly there is the rumour that AG will be closing down very shortly. Dunno how true, but I have made sure I've downloaded the 'essentials' sooner rather than later :computer: ... CTB :cool:

My AG Satellite version is v0.608W (a beta release?)

Everytime I log to AG.com, I got warned that my software is out of date and that I should upgrade - this doesn't prevent me from using the service, yet.

Of course I don't want to upgrade, because of this spyware you're talking about. But do you know if my version is already spy-enabled?

Any chance of sharing your findings on removing webtracker please?? Would you believe, I have a ticket for tonights gig but can't be arsed to go, just got back from Barbados & am fooked!
