I've been forced to listen to them in work a lot. They've SORT of grown on me a wee bit. Bit slushy, and they make their bass player go da da da da da on root notes (like the bass is meant to, the cheek!), but there is some very Hannetesque production on their albums.
They played here about a month ago, biggest gig Bangor's ever seen, 30,000 in the park.
Might make me a poof...but I love Chasing Cars...
Jeffari al Poofani...
oooh...it's got a certain ring to it???
The kind of band certain people like to slag off, but aren't that bad, same as Coldplay. There are a lot worse out there.

people who have never liked alternative music in their life, now seem to play Snow Patrol. especially middleaged women in cars. :\ohwell:

Coldplay in "not that bad" shock...
Sorry, Steve but I think they're the blandest of the bland. The Arch-bland, if you like, who spawned a thousand bland imitators...
Their song that starts "When you try your best and you don't succeed" makes me want to committ murder.
Dont care much for coldplay, but anytime ive seen them live (on TV)theyve always sounded good, and snow patrol, the only "scottish" band to come from Belfast ![]()
Snow Patrol sounds fine, run is a good song....about chasing cars i'm started to be fed up with it..it sounds everywhere ![]()

I know i'll probably getting stick for this but i think they're ok. They dont always use the best songs for singles (sounds familiar?) and have some decent stuff on the albums, b.sides etc.
Square One, No More Keeping My Feet On The Ground, Murder, 1:36 are all good, and anyone who says that Daylight isn't good must be telling porkies - its pure Echo & The Bunnymen.

I discovered Coldplay when Bernard Sumner said they were one of the best band out there in 2001.
And the song you refer to is "Fix You" and that's my favorite on X&Y.

you've got to have a hobby jeff...

Agree. The first Coldplay album is still the best IMO. The last one's just one giant pile of fluff. No good ideas, nothing really creative - no substance, no songs.
Never liked Snow Patrol, sorry. ![]()
In small venues, they're a brilliant live band.
Stick them at a festival or a 30,000 venue and they suck balls.
