So you're saying Jack's wrong?

The Arctic Mernkeys are the best band in the world?

Arctic Monkeys are a decent enough band to be fair. Both their albums are excellent, their EP wasn't great though.

Arctic Monkeys...

widny go to the windae to see them

I couldn't name a single Arctic Monkeys song. I've probably heard them played on TV or radio though.

Basically, if I've heard a song several times and still can't name the band or title, it's safe to say that I wasn't impressed, therefore I probably don't like The Arctic Monkeys, so I'll have to agree with Jack. Best band in the world? Not as far as I'm concerned...

Anyway, most of those polls are fairly meaningless - they're the bands that the record companies want to push to the fore. Even if they do claim that a particular band was 'voted for by the fans'.

They don't impress me either. You hear so many good things about them, similar to the hype surounding Arcade Fire, but when you hear their music it's a let down. Oh well.

the british music press has got to be one of the most overrated wastes of time in the world. why you lot pay so much attention to it (or used to) boggles the mind.

Great band...but not enough to say they are best

isn't amusing and ironic, that you only read and hear this kind of news in the uk? why isn't broadcast all over the world? i don't understand?

perhaps, the 'arctic monkeys' are the best band RIGHT NOW in EUROPE or UK, but not in the world, arguably!

i like the arctic monkeys, their music is great and are fun to listen, too!

2 albums and an ep, doesn't make them "the best band in the world."

i guess i could the say same thing about RADIOHEAD!

Those preteens don't know much about music, don't they? :banghead:

I love the Artic Monkeys, but definately not the world's best band...

I was thinking, is it the accents? I mean, if you look at alot of the British accents in music, they have been toned down (possibly so us Americans can understand), but with the anger towards the U.S. in world politics, is it support for an non-American accent?????

'You call that music. That's all you youngsters are into these days: noise!'

'Didn't your generation ever enjoy itself?'

'When I was your age, I was off fighting in the war.'

'Then you must have made more bloody noise than we did.'

I do actually like a couple of tracks on the new Arctic Monkeys album, Flourescent Adolescent and Brianstorm are both good tunes with witty lyrics and decent riffs. Besides them, there's only a couple on the first album I like. So no they're obviously not the best band in the world.
