When we were in Belgrade earlier this year nine of us went to the derby (Red Star vs Partizan) then went to the basketball after, which we'd told would be a lot worse cos a Belgrade team were playing a Croatian one.

It was shit. Not 1/20th of the atmosphere of the football.

We all trooped out during the 3rd quarter. Bored.

F1 drivers are, and always have been, WAY fitter than footballers or ruggerbuggers. Hence James Hunt beating them all when drunk on BBC superstars.

Not even fighter pilots pull anything like the same lateral G.

Leave them to their delusions, they are not worth the effort.

not as fit as triathletes mate. nowhere near. swim, pedal, run. fuck those G's mate. its bollocks all that. and they sit down. swim, pedal, run. that's proper fitness.

I think the term 'sport' is very broad, and things that are more about skill are considered sports....maybe another word that could define these things....as I have every respect in the world for F1 drivers and the racing (I love cars) but 'sport' just doesn't seem like the proper word...

F1 - it sucks Golf - it spoils a nice walk Athletics - if it was popular then they would be able to afford to build and run a stadium of their own instead of having to sponge off football & the taxpayer

Yes. Without a doubt.

Buzzzz!

I'm sorry but I need a judges' ruling on this...!

Dude, it is not a question whether you like the sport or not. I wouldn't be surprised if you live in Britain with that comment, but you live in France. Just a few months ago, French basketballer Tony Parker made your headlines when he bacame the NBA Finals MVP, and that super expensive wedding with Eva Longoria in Paris.

Anyway, if you don't believe that basketball is the second most popular sport in the world, then what do you think is it?

A heard it in ESPN (yes, an American cable network) a number of times already when they referred basketball as the second most popular sport or the most popular indoor sport in the world. Basketball is now a global sport, and compared to other popular sports (except for football), cricket is only popular in Commonwealth of Nation member-states, baseball is only popular in the American continent and East Asia, and golf, tennis, and F1 racing is only popular to rich people and rich countries.

Indeed*!*
