i remember seeing the first one and would hrdly call it classic tv

Never found it remotely funny. As himself he seemed far more appealing, such as when I saw him on 'Hell's Kitchen' a few years back. But don't find his act funny at all.

As for frank Sidebottom, there's a blast from the past. Top call!

Talking about blasts from the past, anyone recall that versatile singer/organist, John Shuttleworth? Creation of Graham Fellows. He used to have his own television show, you know!

There's a link to NO too, Fellows had a number 4 hit in 1978 as 'Jilted John', and the song was produced by Martin Hannett of all people! Then there was 'Love at the Hacienda'.

I recalled watching 'Europigeon' and his shows when I was younger but I'm not sure if I watched him now if I would find him as appealing. He was just different from the rest because he was genuinely a good guy and very different from most of the other comedy characters around at that time, and now. He only came back into my mind when Frank Sidebottom was mentioned!

Saw Frank Sidebottom on stage loads during the 80s/early 90s. A quality entertainer. Most recent appearance I witnessed was at the Buffalo Bar, Islington as the support act to The Smythes. He provided guest vocals on 'Bigmouth' which of course he adapted to 'Big Frank'. Drummer from ahem, Frank Ferdinand (sic) was there too.

At last, a kindred spirit!!!
