LORRaine

My favourite band are Lorraine and I think they sound similarly to New Order, Pet Shop Boys and Depeche Mode (I love all these bands) but I'm really excited about Lorraine who are making new electropop and they'll have a new album out next year too.

I'd love you guys to let me know what you think of them.

I'm going to see them at their Water Rats show in London.

Thanks for the reply Biginoil :). Actually I have been posting in other threads :)

As I said I'm a fan of all the bands I mentioned and my favourite decade is the 80's so I love synth music/europop/electronic muzik.

I don't know why its taken me so long to join but I'm loving it here :)

Oh and please listen to Lorraine and tell me if you like okay.

Was trying to work out where i'd heard I Feel It before.It was on Popworld sometime back and they were interviewed.They had the piss ripped out of them something rotten by that curly haired one.Almost felt sorry for em

Popworld is a joke. I hated that show. I never saw them on popworld but that curly haired guy started out as a Kids TV presenter and his name is Simon. He had a very short stint as the new Nevermind the Buzzcocks host after Mark Lamar left but he caused a lot of upset and Preston from Ordinary Boys walked out of a Live recording of Buzzcocks because of Simon's dig at Preston and Chantelle's relationship. I don't blame Preston for walking out and thank heavens Popworld is dead. I didn't even like the girl Maquita, she was as smarmy as Simon and they actually thought it was funny to interview people using a Melon called Timothy - it was ridiculous!

Seriously there's a lack of cool music programmes these days at least with Top of the Pops you had interviews and performances and all the other pop shows like Transmission are for new up and coming bands mostly and don't get me started on the direction of MTV etc show proper videos not reality tv.

I'm looking out for a decent music show, if you find one please let me know.

This lot are actually fookin' good, and for once I think this is enthusiasm not spam!

I've listened to all four tracks on their MySpace!! Blimey that's a first for me but i am sick off work so have some unplanned spare time.I Feel It has some nice sounds on it as does Saved New Version.Italian Girlfriend is alright but the keyboards are a bit Killers ish in places.Beautiful Thing MHC is the weakest track - no originality and goes on about 3 minutes too long.

I dunno , they're ok but slightly Savage Garden meets New Order for me .And they're from Norway.Weren't A-Ha Norwegian?

I'd listen to I Feel It and Saved New Version again but i won't go and see them live.

Their latest single [saved] should be out tomorrow (10 DEC) unless it's been delayed new-order-style which wouldn't be a surprise since peter saville has been involved with their artwork.

1. I was one of the first NOOLers to see Lorraine Live. It was 15/3/2006 at London's 100 club. Maybe I was THE first?

2. all the artwork for their first album and accompanying singles was by some guy called um Peter Saville. Yes that one. I metioned it at the time on this site but was ignored.

3. Lorraine were shite.

4. Simon Amstel IS funny.

I only went to the gig because I read a review of their Manchester gig on the Guardian Website (review was on the morning of the London gig, you can find it at Guardian unlimited.co.uk if you can be botherd). The reviwer loved them and campered them to JD/NO about 4 times in as many paragraphs. I don't know how much free booze Columbia records plied him with but it must have been a lot. No one at the London gig got excited. Me and my friend sat on some cheap plastic chairs which we plonked down at the front left corner of the stage. We didn't get over run by dancers/moshers/anyone reaally! If you though A-ha were a bit too heavy back in the 80's, this is the band for you, otherwise forget it.

I 'm thinking Kate probably isn't their friend as Lorraine are from Norway. But she COULD work for the Columbia records...

Amstell wom a comedy award for Buzzcocks last week, and by the way, he is still the host. People who can't laugh at him ( and his merciless piss taking of Lorraine's video on pop world) probably don't laugh at Spinal Tap either. need I say more?

lorraine is a very descent band from norway. listen to the track 'transatlantic flight' it will bring a little of nostalgia (wink!, wink!). underrated in my opinion.

they've also covered 'heaven', a classic track by the psychedelic furs.
