Just found out today that by pressure of the Canaidian anti-piracy group, Demonoid.com is now down fer good! Now I have to search around for a new torrent engine...any ideas???

Actually, I read that the "Canadian" record industry ass, is in fact an American organisation. Can't see how that works myself.

Right! So a "Canadian" anti-piracy group forced the closure of "American" website? Does that actually make any sense? ie: since when to Canadians have ANY clout south of the border.

I'm not surprised. I registered last week, and was amazed by the amount of official stuff being torrented. hardly a bootleg in sight

That's what I thought.....but I never really trusted 'dem kanucks, this is just a simple strike....think thier planning on conquering the US.....you know they never liked being forgotten when people talked about Americans........

Just use Pirate Bay, TorrentReactor or Mininova...
Plus, as far as I know, mp3 are still legal in Canada... so was filming a movie in the theatres

Of course, Montreal was "the" city for bootlegging since we have movies in english and french versions.

Unfortunately too true, I used Demonoid for things such as a live Linton Kwesi Johnson video concert that is not and never will be available in the U.S.!. Not that that matters to the people in charge of shutting these sites down, but since when has reasonable non-profit trading of files amongst fans stopped those people?
haven't used it personally, but SumoTorrent seems to have garnered a large user base rather quickly.
