Happy Thanksgiving Cozzie, though everyone else is just jealous they don't have such a fine meal as the one cooked at my house... damn I'm full and that was an excellent Yank meal... way better than Brits fish n chips....

$10 turkey'll do it for me. But alas, I'm still at work and haven't smelled a piece of legs yet. Looking forward a little feast later on.

I know I'm gonna have a handful of people pissed off over what I'm gonna say, but fcuk it. I'll say it anyway.

I don't really find Thanksgiving day other than a day of actually counting whatever good blessings I've had throughout the past year. I don't really give much of a damn about some turkey, or the casserole or even the Christmas music playing . Sure, it's a day to spend with the family, except in my case I'm not on good terms with them. And then again, I could always visit them for dinner, and any given night they could be serving turkey for all I care.

And then again, I could give thanks for anything, on any day. But Thanksgiving day is a day I spend counting all my blessings and being thankful for them. Like life, the air that I breathe, a roof over my head, food on the table, my job and my coworkers, my friends and family, music, the fact that I don't have to let anybody put me down, as well as knowing when something needs to be said or done.

That said, to hell with the turkey. I've got better things to do on Thanksgiving day. Like actually giving thanks instead of b!tching about the turkey being overdone or the casserole tasting like crap. I'll save that for another dinner time.

A day late, but whatever. Happy belated overindulge-in-turkey-and-diet-until-Christmas day.

Actually, that isn't the case, Edel.

I just think that the holiday itself is overrated [hundreds of dollars in food, hours of cooking, just for a few minutes of food and weeks full of leftovers!? i.don't.think.so.]. In my opinion, Thanksgiving day should be spent as such--giving thanks.

Unfortunately, in this day and age...

ETA [edited to add] By the way, I don't mind spending the afternoon with the family on the day or eating what I usually don't [you read proper: I don't eat turkey ]. I could do that on any given evening. But a lot of people tend to associate Thanksgiving day with basically spending the day with the family and eating 'til you just get sick.

And one more thing--I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner, but I kindly turned it down. When you've spent 6 hours putting up with customers [yes, my job was open 5-11 A.M. yesterday], then having to put up with Christmas shoppers today for 8 and a half hours, the one thing I want to do is anti-socialize for as long as humanly possible!!
