Saw them live for the first time at Glasto this past June with Digi Mike and was quite impressed..they've got a new album coming out soon so hopefully, they'll be touring again

Live trance act System 7 team up with Son Kite, Jam El Mar and Eat Static on their latest longplayer, 'Phoenix', due out in January.

Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy have been making music together as System 7 for almost twenty years. Their part cosmic, part psychedelic concoctions that veer between trance, techno and progressive house usually feature big name collaborators such as The Orb, Derrick May, Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, and Talvin Singh as well as big remixers such as Richie Hawtin, Marshall Jefferson and James Holden. The System 7 live show, which includes Hillage on a modified "techno guitar" and Giraudy on synths is a regular crowdpuller on the festival circuit with recent sets this year at Glade and Glastonbury.

Latest album 'Phoenix' is another collaborative project, this time featuring studio hook-ups with Son Kite aka Minilogue, Jam El Mar from Jam & Spoon, and Eat Static. The album came about after the daughter of Astroboy creator Osamu Tezuka approached the pair to make an album inspired by Tezuka's drawings. "We felt it would be really exciting to make a whole album inspired by the Phoenix stories. We love the way Tezuka’s stories shift in time and space and we also love his sense of humour," Hillage told Japanese mag Kansai Time Out.

Great album - thoroughly recommended, especially the collaborations with Jam & Spoon and Eat Static.

Jam and Spoon had a huge hit with a song called 'Stella' (I think) in the early nineties, and the album was ok, although it probably sounds a bit dated these days.

Great to see Eat Static still about. I found Abduction recently which is a classic album. I've also got strange memories of doing a lot of weed with the Ozric Tentacles around a friends house way back in the last century.
