Doesn't Lewis Hamilton make you sick! A wet and oil soaked track and he still does the third fastest time, only 0.1 s slower than Nigel Mansell in the dry. And he had one hand off the wheel and was singing to himself for most of the lap...

My first ever motor car was a silver Fiat 127 which had a white drivers side door after the original one was caught in a gust of wind. Lasted me for a few years and did loads of miles then went to scrappers. Loved it.

My first was a 62 Merc Comet. Bought it from a wrecking yard with no engine, white and ready for the crusher for $500. Spent a whole Summer between my sophmore/junior year HS painting it, putting in an engine, putting in a new interior... lots of fun and memories in that car...

Unfortunately had to sell it 4 years ago

No, I didn't give it a name! It was honestly one of the best cars I've ever had. I loved the huge steering wheel, who needs power steering!

My mother has it until next technical control. I bet they will tell her that the car is kaput. She more or less destoyed the back of the car. Three times, three trees. She also drove it miles and miles without water in the radiator. Since then the car sometimes smokes as it was about to explode. I wonder what she's doing with it. In fact, I wonder if she could be able to get any driving licence in the world by 2007...

Re: first cars, a X reg Astra 1200 with yellow and primer bodywork and a blue interior! Never got any action in it funnily enough..! Removed the air filter and got double horsepower

My first car was a Fiat Mirafiori in 1988.Funny thing was that after buying it i later realised the car in the Salvation film clips (? the scenes where the bloke is running after the car driven by the woman - i always assumed it was from Salvation but i've yet to see that film)) featured on Touched By The Hand Of God video was the same model

Just found it a bit hard to believe that there could be that much of a gap in a, what - 90 bhp max, family saloon, with 2 of the worlds best drivers in it.

Surely if you can master an 800 bhp F1 car, there just cant be that margin for improvement. It must be like me and you racing fairground dodgems round a go-kart track

I've no reason to believe that the times are not genuine, but they definately use footage from more than one lap - witness James Blunt this week. Going through the second last corner his wipers were going, however they were off in the next shot around Gambon.

Had never heard James Blunt talk before - he seemed genuinely funny.

Maybe the others never took it quite so seriously at the time...
