Concert photography

right, first of all, i have seen some peoples photographs on flickr.com and they are clearly showing concert photography, with slr, i have been to concerts as stated below plus some more, i.e. other band/artiste concerts. all the time i keep getting answered at to what camera i am carrying, ok, i normally carry with me compact digital camera with me, and on one occasion almost got refused entry to a concert, RHCP, in hyde park 2004, it was only that i went in a different entrance they allowed me.

are we people in britain allowed in to concerts with slr? i know the press carry them, due to their job, but mere mortals, like me, dont seem to be allowed to. i went to the new order concert in 2005 brixton academy and was told i wasnt allowed to bring slrs in.

you cannot take removable lens cameras into any gigs.

you can take them to festivals, but that's challot.

you can get pretty good pics with a big zoom on a digi camera though like these taken at hyde park from the crowd

I got a 10x optical zoom on mine, but no gigs to go to.

mine's a 10x too. never use digital zoom!

mine usually go blurry, with someones head in the way? i was second row at a sugababes gig. honestly. and they were still fuct.

I got a print of that shot made, which looks even better than it does on the screen (make sure you got for matt finish, kids).

I've had no luck at all with it though. First my so-called mate Roy snapped a large peice out of the glass when I was trying to frame it and then my other so-called mate Ian knocked it off the wall and smashed the frame to peices when he was drunk.

Fortunatly, the print wasn't damaged. I'll try again this weekend and put it back where it belongs. It is a really great photo

no no. no no. defo not. i had funny looks off the coloured one. Heidi must have whispered, there's that dickhead. we didn't last long though. the call of the buffet and ale was too strong. when we came back, some girls were in our spots. so, we thought fuck it, and went back on the ale instead.

what camera were you using for that? i cant get even near on my compact camera, thoug it does have some functions thats suppose to help me do it, so supposedly you can help me then since i wont be able to bring my slr

I dunno what Hibsters got, but I bought a Panasonic Lumix TZ3 a few months back; main buying attraction was 10x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. Took a picture of a endangered building from about 1.5 miles away recently for a local authority, simply cos the owner threatens to shoot anyone that goes on his estate. OK pic wasnt great in clarity, I had to wind to full 50x zoom, but it was enough for local authority to take action.

Set you back more than a couple of hundred notes though.

Not as much as YOU frighten me!!!

mehhhh, i dont really like electronics manufacturers cashing on the camera market, i prefer camera specialists cameras, like canon or nikon or the hasselblad, not that i have a hasselblad, wow, to dear for normal shooting

mine is a panasonic lumix as well. but to put your mind at rest about electronics manufacturers, the lens is made by leica

mine has the 10 x zoom, never use the digital zoom so don't know what the setting is on that.

its about 3 years old, the new ones have an 18 times optical zoom!

The big question is it really worth taking a camera in. I got a digital camera just before my trip last month and for some gigs it was completely worthless.

Of course, it does depend on some bands attitude. Interpol for instance, are precious fuckers when it comes to fans taking photos. Christ knows why because usually its so fucking dark its impossible to get a half decent photo of them.

These are the best photos I got of them all tour. Admittedly my camera isnt the greatest in the world...

Some other bands dont really care. I saw Arcade Fire and Interpol in Munich last month in the same venue in the space of a week. interpol you got searched, Arcade Fire you didnt. When my mate Andrew goes to the Apollo he alwasy takes his camera, and sometimes he gets it taken off him, sometimes he doesnt.

Of course, when you get a relatively nice band, you can get better photos...

what iso are you using liam? looks quite grainy so you may be going too fast - use a slower one for better quality, but fast enought for the conditions can you adjust the exposure on it at all? whack that right up & it lets more light in don;t use flash & then cheat by using the motordrive & take a load, one will work out alright

red lights really mess with pics for some reason so use black & white on red light, colour's fine for all other colour lighting

oh & nice to see sarah is still experimenting with short dresses, but when will win get a new shirt?

probably a high due to the high amount of noise on the photos
