Ask yourself if you feel like an old man, or a spring chicken, or whatever.

OK?

Now, as long as you're not Digi Mike, scroll down......

Blue Monday will be TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD in a matter of weeks.

Now ask yourself again, HOW old do you feel?

PS: I mean the publicly released 12" Fac73, OK! Not playing any games of earlier live versions or relating it to 586 etc.

Well I heard Blue Monday for the first time on August 31, 1994 off Substance CD, so there you go - 13 years.

Now you asked how old I feel. Here's a thing. I'm 30 years old now and when you're of that age, people have certains expectations about you. And I try to live up to them but it's hard.

Now it's going to sound crazy, but everybody read The Portrait of Dorian Gray, right? And the idea sounds appealing: I also wanted I would stay young and handsome for ever because that's what you want when you're young, right? How stupid. Now I'm 30 but my mindset and mood are still of a 19-year old lad.

I have to really suppress myself to play an "adult" who is 30 years old and so forth. Because even though I have achildish mind, I also accumulated a profile of experiences over the years and I know how people react to this and that, so I don't want to give myself away too much because my real, immature nature shows up and I don't want to be perceived like that by people at least, professionally and in the outside world. Otherwise I would jump up and down, whistle and act foolishly. And I see some 30-year olds do it and get away with it but I'm afraid it would look dorky or people would get irritated by me easily or lose any respect for me (I "don't" care, but if it's people you deal with, you need something about yourself, right?) So instead I maintain that pretensious cool style that means minimum communication with co-workers and mostly anyone else.

I'm a kind person, fuck it. Yes, I feel sad when someone's hurt and more often than not, I don't express any concern verbally (people may think I'm thick). I always feel to help and when I can't, I become "indifferent" out of despair I can't help.

I trust people. I mean I WANT to trust people, but again with experiences accumulated, I can't get people have advantage of me, so I have to hide even my natural kind attitude towards people.

I'm always stressed everywhere but in my family and with my closest friends. But fuck even they get older, becoming "adults" with kids, washing machines and new curtains, old tiles and gasoline prices.

At my work I have to pose as that macabre cool dude who is dressed to kill, doesn't say a word and listens to some dark music in the corner (fuck, I'm listening to Goldie Lookin Chain and the Pet Shop Boys).

I noticed that strangeness about myself about 2-3 years ago. I thought it would go away, but apparently that's the nature.

I used to be a crazy guy... jumping outta car windows at 25 mph, climbing the side of buildings, jumping outta 3 story windows, etc. but now if I do anythhing like that my body will hurt for two weeks.... just can't seem to do the things I love to do...

...I still play rough with my son's friends in the neighborhood, but I get outta breath quicker than before and just can't keep up.... (no pedophile jokes dammit!)

So do I feel old? My mind says no, but my body is screaming yes!!!

Growing old pretty much sucks... anybody who tells you different is lying to themselves... your life is not over by 35, still have hope... but after 40 years you better have a nice home to sit around and putter about cause you are over that hill

Think the first time i heard it was when Tommy Vance god bless im played it on the Top 40 one sunday evening in March/April 1983.I was sitting on the bog as i recall and he may have even played The Beach by mistake come to think of it.Then again it may have been the TOTP performance i first heard it and thought it sounded like shit!!

How old do i feel though? I'm just amazed i'm still alive most days:uhoh:

First I heard it was late 84 or early 85 in the church youth club disco, I thought it was some fucked up remix of a Hazel Dean track. Dj told me what it was and said he only played it cos the sound2light controller freaked out on the bassdrum rolls.

In 7 weeks time i will be 50.I should be bothered but i'm just glad to be alive. If i had looked after my body as well as i looked after by copy of BLUE MONDAY i could still have had HAIR.But unlike my 12inch record i have lived a LOWLIFE.Would i change things....DOUBT i could. So don't get all melancoly peeps as you will NEVER FEEL as old as i do.Now all i need to do is grow UP.Until then i shall carry on KEEP ON KEEPIN' on. I made a career out of not doing MUCH really. i love EMULATORs and MOOGs. Thanks for tuning in.:hat: Rocket Mick

I turned 27 on Monday but I still feel about 18. Don't think I'll ever feel any older than that, either!

you know nebraska supposedly has no hills, so i said to someone who lives in nebraska that they'd better get to making some hills dammnit cos that just ain't right. course tornadoes love nebraska for that very reason, they don't have to maneuver ,.... oh fat ass nazi spy, i can't spell anymore...,over hills and shit.or jump over things as much.they can just uproot trees and plant them in some hillbillie's trailer as an early birthday present, kill a few cows, chickens, satan worshippers.,,,i hate hills ,okay.i live at the bottom of one.

i am nearly 27. all depends on whats going on that day.i feel 43 today.
