:sex: Tesco - the nearest 'local' shop to me is a Tesco Express and the 2 closest upermarkets are both Tesco... Although I did use to shop at Waitrose...

Has anybody tried supermarket deliveries yet? My friend swears by them but I keep thinking they'll give you battered and bruised fruit and veg.
But it would be a good idea for me, if I go shopping when I'm hungry I buy everything. Also I once went in Tesco for fruit and ended up leaving with a telly. I can't resist the home section.
I want to vote for that butchers in Horwich. The small old lady in front of me was buying a massive amount of meat. A whole chicken, four massive steaks, the biggest joint they had, loads of bacon, liver, slices of ham, lamb chops. I asked her whether she was having a party, she replied that it was all for her husband who is 87. 'He likes his meat' she chuckled, then ordered 20 rashers of bacon and a pound of steak mince.

Yes, do it all the time. But not for perishables. I've got the largest collection of bloo loos and shower gels known to man (I get tempted by all the new ranges!)

Home deliveries are great by the way! Not from Harrods obviously.......but my Mum has a lot of shopping delivered from Iceland - the store not the country - it saves her having to carry it. It must be popular because the delivery vans from all the usual supermarkets are clogging this street up more than the Learner drivers!
Aye used Tescos home delivery many times.Not had any problems with it at all 
Think Iceland deliver free if you spend a certain amount.
Dont really do shopping in supermarkets,go to the local coop for a copy of the daily tit,but lady 
does our usual weekly shop at t'asda.
There's no option to vote Co-Op, Spar or Finefare.
So bugger you lot.
I go to my little corner shop.
when i lived over there i was a tesco's girl. i was forced to shop at somerfield for a while and i thought the lighting was crap. that's one thing i like about tesco: it has good lighting. 
We went Organic a while back and get it delivered from Able & Cole, the choice is very limited but the food is excellent... On the odd occassion I pop into the local Sainsburys it's like going to a food wonderland.. so much choice, so many bright lights...

The only honest to goodness one I've ever been in over there is Sainsbury...
I've been to some of those Tesco Expresses...
I tried to find an ASDA, just to see if they are as shitty as Wal-mart, but the lady at the hotel desk gave shit directions...and said something about a bus...fuck that noise...Jeffari don't do buses...
I forgot to say, I went in my local Tesco on Tuesday and they're now selling bathroom suites

I would vote Aldi as it is really good if you are on a budget and arent a middle class wanker like I am. But mostly i try and avoid them, especially the big 4 who have so much clout now that they virtually rape the land dry.
There is so much good and unsual food out there in our town centres and villages, whether it be farmers markets or ethnic food shops.
Having said that supermarkets have had to become more imaginative in the face of competition and things like Tesco's 'Finest' range have exposed people to more unusual items.
6.30 pm mid week is sell off time time at asda just down from me.today i got a chinese chicken and mushroom dish for 2p.it was average but for 2p !!
after 10 years experience i can now hear a sell off/down pricer stamp gun from over a 100 yards
i am having to battle for the sell offs with some old pro's these days so its a battle.also the the poles are getting into it now so its a hard game to be in.
plenty of room in the store to move about after 6 pm so at least we are free range sell off shoppers
I've been to an Aldi here in Camden, NJ, but it was pretty crap. One step above C-Town, the ghetto chain of supermarkets in CT and NJ.
I just usually do most of my shopping at Stop N Shop, which, if you watch Family Guy, is the same supermarket on the show.

Wal-mart...it's the closest store to us...
one of the things I liked better about Austin was that they had HEB...the only grocer I've seen in Texas that has stood up to Wal-mart...
We've got Krogers and Albertsons right down the road, but they suck...I usually only run there if I'm going to be purchasing beer or wine...
There's also a small Indian grocer by my mom's house...I like to go in there because they sell Heinz beans (the proper ones, not that pork n beans shit they sell here)...
