Paul Morely is officially the first person I've heard use the word "naughties" to describe the current decade.

I hereby declare him a git.

I like Morley, the naughties has been used for ages, you're so nineties.

To clarify I have seen it in print, but never heard anyone actually say it out loud.

I like Morely too, mostly, but I still feel sure that git is one of the nicest things that anyone has ever said about him.

Is it not the "noughties" and has it not been getting used as a term for years now?

It didn't really catch on with the 1900s. I've always put this down to the fact that it sounds shit.

This was confirmed when Paul Morley said it on Richard and Judy yesterday. Even he cringed a bit as he said it.

I'm going to leather the next person I hear say it.
