I listen at 37-38 level most of the time, unless I drive with my windows down, then have to turn up the volume to 46-49 to be able to hear the music thru the wind.
At what volume do you listen to car stereo?

No CD player in the work van so have to listen to the radio.Alternate between full blast or OFF depending on what Chris Moyles or Jo Whiley are waffling on about /playing.Turn it up full blast on the A14 when that Guillemots latest single comes on then switch it off when Moyles starts off on one again about Sport Relief![]()
Alas, I cannot say as there are no numbers on my knob... I do spend a fair bit of time fiddling with it though...

Mine goes to 11.
Only a few years ago I would listen to all my music in the 50-60 range... but now I find it too loud for me to enjoy... actually I start getting headaches (caused by prior concusions)... now listen to a reasonable level around 28, but wife still complains its too loud![]()

Twas in Dallas when the Pet Shop Boys were delivering their Sodom & Gomorrah show.
I was about to park my car at Dealey Plaza when an African man ran up to me asking what music I had on. And I had Keith Hudson's Pick A Dub CD. So he's like: Hey cool music, is it reggae? And I was like, that's eh dub. And he was like: Whaat?? That's ****, man! And I raised my window.
I don't have numbers.
As loud as it will go though.
I run my mp3 player at 100% too.
I am quite deaf though, it's never loud enough for me ![]()
the van i drive wont do more than 30, plus it depends on what i am listening to, i do listen to speech based programmes on the radio, aswell as music stations, but also, depends on the songs
I have a 20 years old car. The car stereo is the original one. An all analogic system. So, I cannot say... + when I play it loud, I can hear something which seems connected to the RPM of the engine...
I still play Substance 1987 on tape in it. Great pleasure. Just like in the good old times, a travel in time.

Jiphy, that is an easy problem to solve. Get a noise supressor, like this one (fairly inexpensive) and it goes away. Its the eletrical current from your engine is interferring with the eletrical wavelengths into your speakers. Put this in and it goes completely away.

Thank you mister Pontiac.
On the other hand, I do not drive a lot. And like miss Disco, I like to keep one hear on the traffic.
When I want to listen to the music, I do it like Ralf und Florian. I drive on the motorway. I do it at night. And, well, I also like to hear that my tiny sport car still has energy so that the interferring electrical current is part of the pleasure... Not a peaceful trip à la autobahn but like le fou de l'autostrade... On Saturdays night, when people are already in clubs and before they come home, the motorways are free... Quite strangely, nobody drives on them at this time of night and they are lorries-free from Saturday 10:00 PM to Sunday 10:00 PM - pleasure zone ! Of course, I know that Gendarmerie wait for stupid cunts like me, but I only accelerate beyond limits when the road climbs. Maybe a cunt, but not stupid... Give me songs like denial, senses, sunrise, hurt, ceremony, perfect kiss, mr. Disco, primitive notion, etc... and I will drive you anywhere through the country...

Well if you like it, all the better. Its real easy to put in, most likely no tools needed.
When you talked about joy-driving, well I noted earlier my listening is border-line grandpa... however, my Pontiac as one hell of a system... 2 150 watt amps, 1 farad Capacitor, 2 12" sub-woofers, 2 - 8" dual cone Inifities, 2- 6" midrange Pioneers, and 2 - 1" tweeters.... don't need to blast it very loud (30-40) as it is so powerful it'll rip a nice girl's clothes clean off.
Viscious Streak, Ceremony and Blue Monday are my favorites with the backdrop of a loud, throaty, lopey exhaust... and the smell of burned rubber![]()
mine is at 75% power at "30", and I pretend at that point that I will not destroy my speakers or blow any fuses. so "30" is my ceiling, but sometimes i go up to 32 if it an older recording. 80s New Order has almost NO BASS to make the subwoofers rumble :( ... the one bad thing about New Order.
I also like to always be at an even number on the volume or heat, thou if the number ends in 5 it is also acceptable, like 25 for example. Cause I'm insane I guess. Can stand odd numbers, they seem so messy.

True, but if you fanagle with the output you can get the bass to come above the rest and make it sound really good.
Last time I listened to my car stereo, 'Temptation' was at full volume in order to drown out the wikky-wikky shit that other car drivers were playing.
Shortly after, I rolled the car and ploughed through the central reservation of the motorway.
I walked away and still can't believe I survived it.
Keep the volume down kids. ![]()
10-30
I have an ipod connection, so it depends on the quality of the tune, some are quieter than others.
And I have the best anti stereo-theft system in the world. Forget detachable faces, keycodes etc, mine has 'Skoda' stamped across it ![]()
