Seems very early this year. Is it related to Easter or something?
Anyway come on Cambridge!
No Oxford!
Oh who cares who wins. I hope there's a double sinking and all the toffs drown.

I'm pulling the face I use for times when I know I should be making some sort of joke about the Oxford cox and all those tall men, but can't think of one.
Oxford won, but there is still 79:74 for Cambridge. I try to watch this race every year, it is quite attractive for me, I was a member of KTW rowing club in 80's, Polish champion in 1988, many regatta here and abroad - mainly in West Germany and Romania.

I think theres a famous piece of commentary where a posh dignatory was "kissing the cox of the winning crew"
Anyway toffs and yanks, sink the lot of 'em.
We're just like a big happy family at the moment, aren't we.
Agreeing on everything. JT's review of the Whip was positively exciting.
What did you think of the Whip, Frads?
I fancy the drummer ![]()

A cunting anachronism, in other words.
Totally agree. Absolute elitist bollocks. Would it really be all that tragic if they all drowned?![]()

Eh? How is rowing elitist?
Okay, could well be if you're under 6ft tall! ![]()
Nothing elitist about rowing, but bot everyone can afford to get themselves to Oxford then spend all of their time rowing for six hours a day.
And how come it's the same two teams in the final every year?
the dark side won :-(
very slow time though - slowest since 47!
my sister rowed at cambridge & she's pretty far from a toff. although she didnl;t get in the first team, just rowed for her college

A dull link about the date of the boat race. I'm at work and bored.

...I'm guessing because she had work to do as well as practising her rowing for 6 hours a day.

Aren't most of the team on scholarships, plucked from obscurity cos they're men-mountains?!
You know, bit like the Yanks and their basketball?
Lad I worked with used to row for somesuch team. He trained for 2hrs every single day at work - hour at lunch, hour straight after work, and also rowed (on the river) before work. Fittest bloke I've ever met and he had to give it up because - at 6ft - he was utlimately just too small. Blokes at the same level of fitness, but five inches bigger were always gonna have the advantage over him.
Oh, and he used to gargle olive oil before races to stop him coughing up blood at the end (the wind lacerates your throat!). ![]()
I went to the gym at lunchtime and did 16 minutes on the rower.
I could have gone for much longer but I had to be back at work. Oh and I was so tired and out of beath that I was physically unable to move the dumb thing another inch. Well maybe I wasn't that bad, but I was completely knackered.
All the time I was thinking about the difference in fitness levels between me, Biginoil, and yer average Oxbridge rowing blue.
If I'd known about gargling the olive oil, I'd still be there now.

I'm sure the rower was quite satisfied with what you ended up gargling![]()
