Worst guitar you ever bought

I bought a Zennox guitar off Price Drop tv last week. it came today and on first impressions I was pretty pleased. Unfortunately after tuning it up I discovered that 3 notes were duff and I just got a dead string sound from them. So at £45 it seems another case of you get what you pay for. The tuner works fine and the amp is ok.

It reminded me of the old Axe guitar I had about 20 years ago, which was awful.

Has anyone else owned these guitars before or had equally useless equipment, that thye wish to share their experiences about?

Marlin Fender Strat copy.

Bought to play just one gig.

The guitar was shite, so I borrowed one.

Should have done that in the first place

I've spent a fortune on guitars but my favourite will always be my Eko Ranger that cost me £25 about 20 years ago. My friend named it the dreadnaught. It's heavy and hard to play. I rebuilt it so it's action is quite low and even but for some reason the strings are just hard to press down. I think I like it because it's so hard to play and not too loud. Ideal for practising on because it forces you to play perfectly.

My Gretsch has a really bendy neck. It's like a wang bar if you put any tension at all on it when you're playing. Doesn't seem right to me and no other guitar I've played is like that.

The biggest waste of all was a Yamaha 12 string that I bought in Poole. I played it for one minute in the shop, liked it and bought it. Then I put it in my mates car and went to the pub. Came out of the pub, no car. Never saw it again. Bugger.

Ive just bought an Encore left handed bass and a 25watt Silvertone amp, I suspect both are shite but I'm not; a) too bothered as I am serial hobbyist and they will probably be retired with the mountain bikes, fishing gear and golf clubs within a couple of months b) not loaded, so they were all I could afford at the time

The encore is an uninsppiring creature, but it's not actually "bad" in any way. I dislike the fender thick neck intensely though.

I think you pissed your cash away on the amp, you'd be better off trashing your hifi with the bass through IT.

Lighter strings will make the encore more playable, so will getting someone to set it up right ( they often need their neck realigned and everything).

Im inclined to agree there, its very buzzy when its turned up. I did try to play the bass through an old sony seperates amp and tuner but fack all happened and I'm too thick to work out why so I bought the Silvertone c'est la vie etc......

Best and worst fo rme.

I bought a white Gibson les paul Custom. lovely guitar that played like butter. I dropped it which snapped the headstock during a gig. Played the rest of the gig on my second guitar (Yamaha SG3000) and atthe end of the night found te Les Paul had been mangled even more. Took it fo repair but it's never been the same since. I have a set of 8's on it to keep the tension down and even with Grover tuners on it it won't stay in tune. It now just sits in the house

Do you have any kind of decent soundcard on your PC? If it's got normal connectors, you need a large jack socket to minijack plug adaptor, and yer off. Flog the cereal packet on ebay.

Yer getting fuck all through the hi-fi cos it expects line level, whereass the pass produces something closer to microphone level, you might hear it if you ram the volume right up (course your lead will then click, and you'll be wearing your speakers), but some modern gear has a type of noise gate on it's inuts that a bass will not trigger open.

The PC, makes an excellent pre-amp, bass to pc, pc to hi-fi.
