Girls Filmed Beating To Put On YouTube

Updated:16:17, Tuesday April 08, 2008 Eight teenagers in Florida are facing battery charges after they filmed themselves assaulting another teen. Police released attack footage

Police, who have released footage of the attack, say the group had threatened to post the video on YouTube.

They allege six teenage girls lured the 16-year-old victim to a friend's house and starting beating her when she got there.

The victim was struck on the head several times and then slammed into a wall, knocking her unconscious.

When the girl woke up, she told police the group stopped her from leaving and continued to beat her.

Two other teenage boys stood outside the residence as look-outs, according to police.

"It's a pack mentality. They lured her there to beat her, and beat her, and beat her and they left her with a concussion," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

"I must tell you that makes my blood boil and certainly I think it will the people in our community."

The 16-year-old was taken to hospital and treated for concussion, damage to her left eye, left ear and numerous bruises.

The mother of one of the accused teens said the victim provoked the attack by threatening and insulting others on the MySpace website.

Awwwww...how sweet...I especially like the last bit about how the victim provoked the attack...they actually had the daft bitch on one of the morning news shows over here...

So if the victim provoked this attack...does that mean that it would be okay for the victim to shoot her attackers, and then claim that she had been provoked by the beating???

I love my country...I feel really smart after seeing these fuckwits on TV...

One on one.

They're all cowardly bastards. It makes me sick to the stomach to hear about stuff like this. We have 'Happy Slapping' over here. My favourite You tube clip ever is where somebody being Happy Slapped turns round and kicks the fuck out of the guy trying it on and also the camera man.

Peer pressure or not, if any of my 'harder' mates had tried that when I was a teen, I would like to think I'd have the decency to at least walk out if I didn't have the courage to jump in and stop it.

Makes my blood boil it does. Don't even get me on the subject of school bullies.

Right on that Jemm. One on one is how it should be. Funny how people have the comfort of protection behind thier computer screens. I'm sure the girl was stupid behind myspace... sure she deserved a confrontation, but a planned beating heavily outnumbering her?

It seems to me the teens of today are really detached from the world.....

I'm sick of this whole "blame the victim" mentality (which, apparently, comes from people's need to believe in a just world). There's no excuse for doing this kind of thing. The people responsible should be locked up.
