shit.

and steel.

but mainly shit.

also, you'd think 'the scunthorpe problem' would refer to the mere fact of its existence, but no:

if typhoo put the 't' in britain, who put the 'cunt' in scunthorpe?

a friend of mine's on the shaun keaveny breakfast show (6music) next wednesday doing 'toast the nation'. i'm hoping she'll mention that the book from which 'get carter' was adapted was originally set in sunny scunny.

oh, and the baths hall here was the only place peely continued doing an annual djing gig long after he'd stopped playing everywhere else...

My town consists of posh c___s with massive houses. And a massive coke epidemic.

Its also supposedly and amazingly the birthplace of punk, Daylight saving, a famous chicken, and former home to exiled French leaders Napoleon III and Charles de Gaulle.

That sounds exactly like Welwyn Garden City!

Anyway, the 2nd Garden City - yup, this was the blueprint for New Towns...

Used to be the drug capital of the UK (apparently) via The Cherry Tree pub (was a bikers pub, now a Waitrose).

The Cherry Tree used to host bands such as The Sex Pistols (before Manchester!), etc, etc.

There used to be a film studios here where "Brighton Rock" was filmed...

Erm, Nick Faldo and David James (Pompey goalkeeper) were born here - they've both now left!

Barry Norman, Brian Wilde (RIP), and Lewis Hamilton live in nearby Tewin (although Stevenage normally claims them)...

Erm, it has a John Lewis... And some trees... Naff-all pubs... Erm, and it's full of chavs...

And that's about it...
