Ships. Being in a small boat beside a giant ship, or down the pier steps beside one, I'm usually terrified.

Also, anything I don't recognise on the end of my fishing line fills me with terror.

And that bloke who's "half man half tree". Remember Les on Vic Reeves Big Night Out, when he was shown chives, that's me when I see him.

Nuns. (my brother used to tell me that mum and dad hated me and that they'd arranged for the nuns to take me away).

Light switches.

Birds.

Drain pipes. (could be full of rats)

Apart from that,i'm a well balanced individual:thumb:

Dead animals freak me out something chronic. I dont have any problem with handling prepared (ie unrecognisable as what it was) meat or any type of fish, but I have to look away when I see big roadkill

Oops, did I just reveal an irrational fear? :ignore:

I would say 'apes' but that's perfectly rational.

dizzying unbounded heights (for instance, window washer or construction worker on a skyscraper) and deep water are at the top of my list, flying on a airplane never ever bothered me at all.

Not irrational anymore, but I don't really like most dogs very much (bitten by a german shepard as a kid).

dan rather used to be the anchor of the CBS evening news until he had to resign after reporting on george bush's air national guard service using forged documents.

he always looks mean and angry on the telly. jennings (ABC--now deceased) and brokaw (NBC) were much better.

*and before y'all start, yes, i know it's bound to happen to all of us at some point down the road, but i truly am afraid of death, and i'm even more scared stupid of dying. the fear jumps up 100% when i'm at a funeral!*

Earthquakes (I'm OK with small ones----just absolutely afraid of a huge one with lots of damage, like the one in the Osaka region back in 1995, or Tokyo circa the 1920s.....I'm lucky to have never encountered a huge one, though, living in Japan.)

Ants, spiders, etc etc

Volcano eruptions

i'm not as frightened of dan rather as i used to be, though. on david letterman's first show back since 9/11, he had dan rather as a guest. halfway through talking about what had happened and why, the man burst into tears and they went to commercial break. perhaps he is human, after all (just barely).

Heights or standing close to a ledge, I can picture myself flying over the edge.
Bridges (I live by an interstate that collapsed last summer) Calling people on the phone, can't even order a pizza without freaking out.
