Oh fucking hell!!! The Cure are a modern equivalent of those odious old Open University-type prog rock bands that just whine on and on and on doing 5 hour gigs and trilogy sets and boring the collective pants and legs and arms off everybody.

If they stayed true to JoBrand Smith's orginal vision of splitting up in 1989 when they were still ahead then maybe even their detractors would regard them with a modicum of respect......but now they have continued twice as long in terms of years as their original 10 year timespan from 1979-89..... the phrase "dinosaurs" springs to mind (and no, I refuse to accept that that term could be levelled likewise at my beloved Bunnymen!).

Besides, The thought of a Cure single every month is too much to bear - haven't they got any original ideas left now instead of nicking from the Wedding Present? Sad twats! Pack it in chaps - you're becoming an acute embarrassment!

I will pretend I didn't actually read that........

.....and hope that if I close my eyes for long enough that nasty image will all but go away....

This seems to have paid off for them as they currently hold four spots in the top 15 Billboard singles chart including NUMBER 1!!

The Perfect Boy US - enters at #1 on the Hot Singles Sales chart (1st week)

Sleep When I'm Dead US - holds at #8 on the Hot Singles Sales chart (5th week).

Freakshow US - up to #13 on the Hot Singles Sales chart (10th week).

The Only One US - holds at #14 on the Hot Singles Sales chart (11th week).

Wow...they sound COMPLETELY different from everything they've released in the past 8 years. Gotta love that diverse sound!
