How was your birthday then, nora?

Did you get nice presents?

How were that dumb band you went to see?

Come on, we want to hear all about it...

i suspect you don't really want to know at all. i suspect you are mocking my birthday giddiness.

i don't care.

my 33rd birthday resolution is to take everything everyone ever says at face value, thus eliminating postmodern irony from my life completely, as i am starting to find it tedious and snide.

also, i am quite prepared to milk this birthday for every drop of attention it affords. i have no shame.

the band were smashing, thankyouverymuch, and the enjoyment of them was enhanced by a clear head and a happy smile. i have now decided bearded canadians with trumpets are so far up my street they probably sneak into my house and have a kip on the settee while i'm at work. sheff is very pretty at night, although i was slightly sad the wall of water fountain thing by the station was turned off.

being an orphan, i don't expect presents and am always surprised and delighted to get anything at all. i have oft maintained i'd be over the moon if an envelope with a bit of dirt and gravel in it showed up on my doormat. however, this has never been tested.

i was humbled and pleased to see so many other people celebrating my birthday. why, every pub i passed was full of folk cheering and one or two even had balloons up.

There was a massive party in Aberdeen last night. Pittodrie Stadium was packed and the atmosphere was electric.

"Bloody Nora" said the bloke next to me. He said it twice actually.

I hear there was much the same going on in parts of Glasgow too.

And they had fireworks in Dundee.

Your birthday is bigger than St Pads

There were loads of people out in Aberdeen last night.

Some of my friends went for nora's birthday dinner, and we all met up in a club.

No cake, but a good night nonetheless
