Because someone else sneaks a couple of gulps and then tops it up with cold water while your back's turned :p

I would dispute your premise here mate. A cup sitting still *should* lose it's heat slower that one getting sloshed about.

Nah.
A smaller amount of coffee (ie once you've consumed half of it) will cool more quickly as it has less heat energy to give off. So if you guzzle half, the other half will cool loads more quickly.
Have you put the milk in? Material loses heat at a rate proportional to the difference between it's temperature and the temperature of the air around it. So if you get the milk in quickly (or put it in before the hot water) it will loose energy at a slower rate than if you leave it at close to boiling point.
You may perceive the cup staying warmer for longer when you're sitting looking at it rather than drinking it down.

quite right biggy, coffee with milk in will cool at a slower rate than coffee without it.

quite right biggy, coffee with milk in will cool at a slower rate than coffee without it.
So will coffee mixed with jizz... not that I've ever tried to test that theory
personnally i believe its a question of what type of bean is used in the coffee, robusta or aribica ,, if they blend the 2 then it spikes all the data, also is it a standard 12oz cup or large 16oz cup,, starbucks ( with creamy head) or costa with foamed milk,, yes if its an americano then the barista may have added cold water which speeds the cooling process. time for tea.
