My pick, without a doubt since I bought the album back in 1994:

And just to mention, I was never a Carpenters fan. In fact, I haven't heard of the original versions on some of the tracks in the tribute album.

Its gorra be 'Shaken not Stirred' by David Arnold, featuring the James Bond themes reworked for me. No contest.

'Sgt Pepper Knew My Father'. This one has some great alternative versions. Haven't played it for years though.

For The Masses - Depeche Mode Tribute... most tribute albums have unknown people that give crappy versions of the songs, however this album has great song versions, challenging the originals... and is strong throughout... come to think of it, therre is no other tribute album I care for than this one...

i dont tend to go for tribute albums, i am no way saying they are a bad thing for the people doing them, but i think they are bit eww. i dont like most covers by other artist, one comes the thought at the moment, LWTUA by the cheesy Paul Young

recorded as a tribute to andy wood after he died. immense album.

suppose it doesn't really fit in with the thread as it's not a "covering another bands songs" type album. it's just quality though.
