Fridges with the wee freezer compartment at top,
3 bar electric fires
Remember how much people paid for a VCR or a Microwave back in the early 80s? They were major purchases, like buying a large HDTV now.
I thought you would be going on about cleansers, spray bottles, soap and shit.

God, do you remember when making a phonecall involved putting your finger in the numbers and pulling the dial round for each one?
Them were days.Scary

Even more stupid, was when the button phone came out and you could keep it on the rotary sound, for all those not wanting to be too advanced...

My grandmother would not switch from rotary to touch-tone service...it cost an extra $2 per month...it wasn't that she didn't want to seem too advanced...she was just cheap...

That's what my fridge is like!!! Don't bother my arse with freezers except for to keep ice.
I remember checking into a communist-era hotel in Czechoslovakia in the early 90's and getting all excited cos I thought the room had been equipped with a VCR. On closer inspection I realised it was actually the biggest clock-radio I had ever seen in my life.

I had the same TESLA.

I've got one of those in our living room... fine to accept calls on, but no chance of ringing out on it.. you grow old waiting for the dial to swing back around.. and some numbers won't connect cos you have taken too long to dial and the exchange got bored...
Does look nice & sounds fantastic...
They're lovely substantial phones though. Better than these flimsy plastic lightweight bits of shite we have these days.

Works the same at home.

Note : the wonderful vintage carpet is not mine.

And just think, if we still had rotary phones, all the contestants on Idol and Dancing With The Stars would have to make a circular motion with their fingers instead of a pointy motion whilst begging for votes.
