Since I got me Ipod I have found masel listening to stuff that I never got round to the first time around. Current rotation is the Cure and Jay - Z I shit ye not.

Anyone have recommended albums by these two? :read:

Currently got NWA Greatest Hits, Fear Of A Black Planet & The Best Of Public Enemy. Also gonna branch into 2 Live Crew tonight.

Current mood : I want to cap someone's ass and fuck the police, neither of these in a sexual way though I do like a big love gun!

So what weird shite have you lot been listening to?

Fcuk me, never realised NWA had a [cough] 'Greatest Hits'

'Straight Outta Compton' is all you need really.

For P.E. go with It Takes a Nation of Millions and Fear of a Black Planet. All the blindingly obvious singles are on those as well. I've never even heard any of their noughties offerings, might torrent 'em later now that you've got me thinking about 'em.

You wanna get some Wu-Tang next!

Word.

fo sho.

you need to get isproggler mate. builds up a picture of what you've been listening to on your ipod (& itunes on the pc), recommends bands you haven't listened to that people listening to stuff like you also listen to (if you see what i mean)

follow the link on my sig to see more.

also has free downloads (might be good idea if you are on virgin what with their current stance on downloading) etc.

For The Cure, if you want the early dark stuff, you gotta get Faith and Pornography. If you want the more psychedelic side, get Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, and two other good albums are Disintegration and Wish. Or just get Standing on a Beach and Galore for a sampling of the singles.

Shug, dinnae bother with 2 Live Crew. Comedy rap that gets boring after 5 minutes. Although I do like the fat, bassy grooves that underly that whole Miami "Booty Bass" sound. Has a lot in common with yer proper dark jungle and two step.

You wanna get the g-funk on my man. Warren Gs "Regulate...The G Funk Era", Dre Dre's "2001" or the all time classic.......Snoop Doggy Dogg's "Doggystle" still 'fresh' 14 years after it's release.

Our John had Regulate on cassette single years back, forgot all about him. Will hunt for yer picks very shortly. Still gonna download that first 2 Live Crew album as well, even if it is just for Me So Horny ;) Gonna give 2pac and LL Cool J a chance to impress me an all. NWA was quite refreshing on the bus to work this morning

can't think of any other rap album other than what's been mentioned, beside the first two Eric B. and Rakim albums, which are total class. Almost all of my rap collection is in the form of singles (Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane, Kool Moe Dee, etc).

fkuckin' A, has it been about 20 years since most of that stuff's been released......
