I'm feeling old....

Once upon a time the phrase 'growing your own' would have made me think of marijuana.

These days I find myself reading the gardening section of the sunday supplement (lets not even talk about the fact I now get a sunday paper!)

Anyone else growing their own veg? and if so what you got?

I started with some courgettes on the worktop in my kitchen. They quickly started to out grow the pots they were in so I have moved them to my parents garden. The space was quickly filled with peper plants which have a nice few fruit growing & to keep the courgettes company I have three tomato plants some radishes and a bit of rocket..

Yummy, mint, must get some seeds and have a go. Will probably be able to grow that inside...

I have my own patch on our old fella's allotment.I'll inherit it one day..

Come the apocolypse,we'll not want. Carrots are rock hard to grow, but I have a copious supply of rhubarb.Which is only good with lashings and lashings of sugar, natch.

There's a hydroponics shop right over the road from my office. A smelly-looking hippy runs it. I walked past him the other day and he doesn't smell at all. It's funny to watch the people who walk in and out. Some are quite casual, stroll in, get what they want and stroll out. Then you get a huge transit van full of Chinese people who run around like they're robbing a bank.

Out of my other office window I can see a large flat roof where lots of gulls live. They were shagging like mad a few months ago (not a tender and loving act like when I do it, more like a lot of teasing and chasing followed by a quick rape) and now the adults throw up in front of the resulting youngsters, who eagerly lap it up and then flap their wings and try to fly.

Sorry, what was the question again?

Col,I must have just totally dwelled on my response,in an effort to express the indirect magnitude, you, more than likely have no more than an inckling of...and I got timed out.Ce la vie... To absolutley butcher a long story...you sorted me and mine right out, brought joy to our house, when you Gayfacebooked us about the days out crac..

Stickin me neck out...but my two daughters whose relationship between themselves bothers me too much of late, came on leaps and bounds as a direct result of that website you and littleinoil dabble in,the one you tipped me about,ye know. Anyhow, served as a catalyst for them... Watching this shit, between the little twats, makes life a bit easier in our gaff, for me too,I want them to look after eachother,natch... Funny how you can effect people's lives without ever knowing, but that's what happened. How come you don't like 'Band on the Run?'

Band on the Run is my new favourite song, Boaty.

That little story will bring a smile to my face for some time.

Don't worry about them nippers, bud. They've got something that most kids can only dream of...

Their Dad is mates with Biggy

I have visions of Neil planting the seed, nature growing the seed and us eating the seed

Ma grandad grows his own tomatoes - bringing it back on topic ;)

I'm getting better and my house plants are positively thriving. I took last Friday off to indulge in a spot of gardening. I had ivy growing through my windows. It was a thankless task and I nearly broke my neck falling off a ladder. I also ended up with the biggest rash up my arms, known to man. I am now on allergy tablets and have calomine lotion all over my arms.

Still, my garden looks lovely.

Used to grow spuds, broad beans, raspberries, onions, courgettes, tomatoes, peppers. Then I moved to somewhere with no garden.

The flat roof sounds like it has the potential to house a bee hive.. urban honey is very popular these day....

The trick with cacti is to ignore them.. don't repot them.. leave them in tiny pots far too small for em, don't water them very often at all and they will flower to get your attention...

After all this talk of Rockets 'seed' I have really gone off eating it now...

and for the record.. I got the 'seed' from the supermarket.. not direct from the supplier...

If only the kitchen were big enough! Hardly any work surfaces at all, got too many bits and pieces and not enough storage space. Kitchen isn't made for someone domesticated who likes cooking and has a load of stuff!

We've only got peppers this year. At least that's something the rabbits, groundhogs, and moles won't eat.
