Evil Dead 2 is a classic. I love Bruce's one-man performance. He's awesome. AOD is a bit too silly for my taste. But a nice movie anyway.

Evil Dead 2, easily.

but really, why is the first one not in the running?

x2

Prefer AOD as it's the closest thing to a movie of Doom/Quake as we'll ever see (yes I know there's a "real" Doom movie, but fuck that).

Think because ED1 is a 1/4 serious attempt at a horror flick. It was only after seeing 2 that I even caught on to the sillines of the whole thing.

Cambo, yer on the money there. ED1, from what I understand, was a good horror movie of the time, but by todays standards... I wouldn't even classify it as B-rated... the Grundge 2 is probably better.

Plus ED2 is the exact same movie (same charactors, setting, etc.) except with comedy added in... so though ED1 is the 'sequel' by name, I just don't see it as part of the series...

Yeah AoD went overboard with silliness.Funny the skeletons running for cover "Aargh ,let's get out of here!"

EVIL DEAD 2 = CLASSIC!

So much I could cite...the simple fight between Ash..and..er Ash's hand.No effects ,just pure slapstick. On a horror note, loved the crazy camera shots, when the "evil" gets into the house, the four victims terrorised by noises from walls,clocks... The same camera style Sam Raimi uses in SPIDERMAN 2,when doctors are attacked by Dr Octopus' tentacles.

Evil Dead 2, purely for the cutting off of the hand, which then proceeds to scatter away, turn round and stick a finger up!

if you don't recognize the comedy in the first Evil Dead, you need to get your head checked out! they're all a scream.

I was 11 and it was possibly the first video tape I ever watched outside of school FFS popey.

Been wondering something, not having seen ED2 in a while......In the first Doctor Who Xmas special, the Doc says "and this new hand.....is a fightin hand" and suddenly looks an awful lot like Ash. Did Ash ever actually speak that line in ED2? (albeit it wasn't actually a hand of course).

nope, that line isn't in any of them.

i was scared plenty by the first Evil Dead when I first saw it at about 10, but having become a hardened horror geek since then, it's easy to now see how tongue-in-cheek most of the first movie is. the comedy is still there, but they just hadn't brought it out as much as in the sequels.

I watched the movies backwards, so I may have written off ED1 a little earlier, considering it IS the exact same movie, just not as funny. Don't think I really gave it the time I would a normal movie...

I agree with most that ED 2 is by far the best of the two. My favorite part is when Ash gets hit by the evil and is sent flying through the trees... it seemed for miles, yet he falls into a puddle only about 50 feet from the house.

AofD is great in the first half, but the last half is hard to watch... (Klatu, verada, nic.... nickel, necktie... its an 'n' word! It's definately an 'n' word! Klatu, verada,nic*cough*... there I said it!)

Sadly I only have these on VHS, and my VHS player craped out on me years ago... guess I need to upgrade soon

I take it you know that "Klatuu, verada nictu" or whatever, is the message Klatuu gives to the Earth person, to tell Gort his nasty big cunt of a robot, to stop him wiping us out in "day the earth stood still".

I believe that film is currently undergoing a violent rape.....sorry.....remake....as we speak.

Someone mentioned it in work, I said "oh the one where......" and they said "fuck you you ruined it"....how the fuck is it my fault they never seen a 50 year old movie. lol.

TDTESS is a great movie, though I haven't seen it for years... AOD is not the only movie that uses that phrase either, I've seen it in five or so other movies as well.

So will Tom Cruise be in this one? Or even better, Ben Stiller acting as Tom Cruise? The story line makes for a great classic movie, but I don't see a new movie doing well with the low action storyline... something tells me its going to have a huge revamp making it ghey.

I fear the worst. I always fear the worst and my worst fears are always outstripped by the true horror that is Hollywoood.

Besides..."stop fighting, you're dicks" isn't a message that'll sit well in Jesusland I'm afraid.

I didn't think it could get worse than Cruise Cambo, but it looks like it is... K. Reeves is Klatu, must mean this will be a killer at the box office
