Loose Fit is a fookin cracker - favourite memory that stirs up is Elland Road 91
Just as the song started the lights at the side of the stage lit up one by one like a massive runway - in time with the sound of the aeroplane at the start of the track! Also bought the Loose Fit t-shirt that day (along with 3 or 4 others.....tart tart, the logo and Bummed) still have them to this day in a carrier bag in the loft

Some good choices Hubertinio....personally I thought some of the stuff from P&T was great, God's Cop is pure fuckin class (amongst others) and Judge Fudge and Stinkin Thinkin are also great tracks - although the rest of Yes Please (with another exception being Angel) is fuckin hard to listen to
Do It Better was the first stuff of the Mondays I ever saw - it was on Snub, just before they supported New Order at the NEC 89 - scared me shitless - but a great, great track

seen them loads of times supporting the order in the mid to late 80s,,,i found them to be pretty woeful live...then before you know it they became massive...some of the recorded stuff is o.k..(wrote for luck)..however they remained shambolic live...but i suppose thats part of the fun and the interest..and ultimately all the cash they earned and presumably spent!!!

Have every 12" they done (same with singles) and all their albums on vinyl and CD (except fer No Thanks....copywrite NME )

Yeah Shug, I prefer the early stuff. Agree with all the comments about their live performances, although I thought they were pretty awesome at the Birmingham gig you mentioned. Unfortunatey I was surrounded by punters who were obviously expreiencing them for the first time.....I think it's fair to say that they didn't enjoy it!
Naah Shug, the only thing that the mondays are good for is karoke for people like me (and Shaun Ryder) who are tone deaf.

Yeah - ah'll have ta add those to my aforeposted list too: Forgot how great "Olive Oil" is too - infact that whole first album is brilliant cos it's so rough and raw, a lot of the backing tracks even remind me of The Fall! As fer "Pills and Thrills" - ah never liked that one, to me the band had got so immersed with the Madchester thing, they forgot to do their songs much justice - two John Kongos covers were scrapin' the barrel a bit. But "God's Cop" is just aboot the best thing on that damn album! ;)

Favourite tracks WFL and Lazyitis, *mourning the death of funky psychadelic rock music and long hair, except in Italy and other Latin American footballing nations* though everything on Bummed is excellent a truly great album. I only got to see them live once which was a great concert, just prior to Madchester being adopted by every second student in the country. I agree they quickly lost what made them great and Pills... is a another example of Perfecto not seeming to understand the music of the people they are producing(see previous rants about Get Ready).
I like the sleave though. Any of the resident graphic design fans big on Central Station?
Bummed is a fantastic cover But the best cover of anything by The Mondays, surely has to be the original 12" cover to Wrote For Luck (the logo cover) splendid it is!:D

i only have one mondays record... double easy, the u.s singles!:D they have a lot of good songs, my favourite being step on (the first mondays song i heard), Wrote for luck, hallijuah, and some others i can't remember the title to. but there were also a lot of tracks that were quite boring, all in all, quite a spotty record...and it's their best of! stinkin thinkin and tolokoloshy man (or however you spell it!, i always skip over. i think it was the drugs, if they weren't so messed up by them, i bet they could have had a lot more good songs! double easy looks like the only mondays record i'm gonna own cuz i'm not risking my money on any of their other stuff. by the way, i bought the cd used, not even full price and brand spanking new.

Tart Tart. Opening chords of this still send a chill up me spine to this day, second'ed only by Ceremony. Glad they used it to such good effect in 24HrPP The Movie, letting it just play and play. And play. Kuff Dam also a cracker. Jesus is a what?. Yahoo also a goodie, purely cos it reminds me of the first girl I ever lived with.
Bummed their crowning moment for me though - Do It Better was a cracker live, and remember that sooperb OSM runout of Performance. Me and six mates also got on Snub TV, mooching around in the background behind some arse shaking his maracas at the camera down the front at the Astoria.
Personally couldn't understand the fuss about Pills & Thrills, and actually preferred Yes, Please meself. Was shocked at the change of audience between the long tour they did at the end of 89, and then just three or four months later in 90 when they played G-Mex and Wembley, same time as the release of Step On, when they went from what was basically a lads band, to a teenybopper sensation overnight.
Thought the comeback wasn't bad though, quite amazed at how slick and professional they'd become.
Actually quite disappointed SWR's a no-show at Manc now.
I'm a BIG fan, really! Fave tracks: Loose fix (the 12" mix) WFL Donovan Bob's yer uncle 24 Hour Party people Judge Fudge (WHAT a intro!) By the way, wasn't Paul Oakenfold over-hyped in those days? I always thought that it was Osborne who did all the work while Oakey sniffed some "white powder" with Bez, and his work on Get ready seems to prove my point. What d'ya think?
Oh yes, why do I like them. Well, I believe in miracles and the way in wich five lazy scoundrels from Manchester managed to sound so fresh and inventive is, by want of a better word, a "miracle"... If you forget that "No, please!" stinker, that is!
