The Falling cost of petrol

Over the last few months the news has been mentioning the Rising cost of petrol.petrol cost have actually been dropping since july. ive been checking my local petrol station for weeks and its been cheaper every week.today its 1.08 a litre THATS ACTUALLY CHEAPER THAN BEFORE EASTER !! Why are the news so negative ? Why delivery companies still putting fuel charges up ? why are people at work still groaning about the rising price of petrol,when ive been telling them the reality for weeks ?

A friend of mine who works for a oil-company told me that the prices of oil are expected to drop even further what should make drop the fuelprices even more.

Unfortunately not, because these fucking petrolstations are quicker in raising prices that dropping them. They said it's to 'protect' the customer, beacuase if they drop petrol-prices to a level of which it's supposed to be when looking at the oilprice now we would be scared to death if that oilprice went up again and the petrol-prices was going up again as well...

Raising prices can always be done very quikc where as dropping them is a pain in the arse..

Yer not kidding on the rate to drop prices. At least here in California, they add ethanol to the gas in the Summer to decrease emissions... of course its more expensive and decreases your gas mileage. Rates always raise in the Summer, but they never seem to drop at the same rate when the ethanol is no longer added in the winter.

People always complain about the price of fuel and energy, what ever the cost! Always say it is too high and that businesses and the less fortunate can't pay.

Gasoline has risen around +275% in the last 7 years in the US, people didn't know how easy things were in the 1990s. Even thou the price of crude oil has dropped significantly this summer they use every excuse to keep the price up, as it's now $3.89-3.99 a gallon now, but should drop some now. Still way cheaper than Europe and British areas thou.

If you're worried about the cost - get out of you're bloody car.

I realise walking anywhere and risking actually having to talk to another human being is trumatising but give it a go

Sidewalks are made for easements over here... everything is so spread out, you would only be walking around other houses for 1 hour before hitting a store.

i am pleased with your comments on this debate dave and agree with all..however if you do drive a van/car it is now cheaper than in 2007.so any over price should be an offence !! anyone still charging extra petrol costs should be made to spend a night watching a mick hucnell concert

That is hardly a drop, it is so whimsical, it hardly ever moved since it went up to a dizzy height of 125p a litre, ok, some shops sell it for 111p a litre, but remember, at the end of the year it was near abouts 90 or so a litre

Autogas/LPG really gets my goat now, from 47p a litre to 62p/litre, hasn't just burnt a hole in my pocket, it is just made me livid

Oil prices shouldn't really affect the petrol price.

Petrol is just one product of refining crude oil. Exactly the same amount of petrol would be produced if nobody bought it. Once you've added tax and distribution costs, which are independent of crude price (but, slightly ironically, very sensitive to refined fuel costs) I can't imagine that the price of the end products is at all sensitive to crude price.

Petrol companies just point at the headline crude cost (which is in reality a snapshot: real barrels of oil will be traded at a range of prices over the course of each day) as a handy excuse for ramping up the forecourt price and therefore increasing profits.

I don't know why there should be any doubt that the petrol stations are taking the piss. Any company who charges six fucking quid for two slices of bread with some dry chicken should not be expected to adopt fair pricing policies anywhere in it's business.

I was in Glasgow today, where diesel was 118.9p a Litre, then traveled back up to the sticks and after Loch Lommond there are 3 petrol stations from there to my gaff and in the next 50 miles the price went up 10p a Litre.

i think all petrol stations take the piss, especially round here they know you're not gonna go anywhere else so your gonna have to accept it.

Let's remember that gasoline is sold as a commodity. So even if the price of crude oil comes down (and then by extension refined gasoline) the local gas station is still having to pay for the gasoline it bought at the previously higher price. It takes a while for the lower priced gasoline to get in the pipeline. *rim shot*
