Download them with the fox plugin, then play them with --dumpaudio option. I love penguins me.

Here's the slight problem.......most YouTube audio files are so compressed that the sound quality sounds like shit. I recorded a beat off of youtube before and it sounded muffled and horrible. Have you guys ever heard of BitTorrent??? A much much more satisfying way of getting music that doesn't sound like shit. And it costs exactly the same as this youtube thing

But sometimes the youtube versions are unique. For example I got a load of Art of Noise live stuff off youtube that pretty much cannot be found anywhere else.

Nope! you can never put back the quality lost. A signal will always sound like it did when it was in it's lowest quality setting.

All you MIGHT gain from raising the bitrate is less of any crap that's generated at the playback stage....some mp3 players, particularly hardware ones, make a real mess of decoding low bandwidth stuff, so re-encoding at a higher bitrate would reduce decoder induced artifacts.

If you refuse to believe me, take a CD quality track, and set it to something like 8 bit 11KHz and/or 32kbps. Save it. Reload it and set it back to 44.1KHz 16bit 320kbps. Sound like a CD to you?
