I sorta don't have a problem with this, because lord knows he didn't make the fortune he deserved (considering his artistic influence) while working for Factory...

That being said, part of me is thinking "man, those look awesome, and snowboarding is a perfect application of the Unknown Pleasures design" while another part of me is thinking "how long can he keep pedaling the same design he did 30 years ago?"

Saw the t-shirt similar to unknown pleasures about 6 months ago in a surf store. Wanted to take a closer look, but the wife wanted to get out of there fast and didn't have to time to check it out. Went back a few weeks later and it was gone... wondered who it was by. Thought it was some knock-off... good to see Saville doing other stuff, even though he seems to keep banging the crap out of the UP cover....

Small point - he didn't actually 'do' the design, did he.

Science did it.

He can do no wrong in my eyes. I respect everything he's ever done. I met him once and I was properly crippled by nerves - the last person I'd expected to be star-struck by.

This makes me wish I could drive a snowboard.

Yes, I know it came from a book, but he's the designer who put it into context and he will forever be linked to it because it's an iconic design.

I'm not dissing him - the walls in my flat are absolutely covered with framed Saville designs - i'm just sayin'.

they've been selling the unknown pleasures t shirt at Urban Outfitters for awhile a few years ago, I've had toput up with seeing legions of 21 year old cheerleader/sorority girl types who have no fucking clue who Joy Division are running around with these.
