If any of you people on here work for Epson, do me a favour.
Tell the person who designs your printers they are the most worthless scum on the face of the planet.

I think all printers are evil, but Epsom probably make the most evil of all.
A printer is, of course, a robot. BUT, it is a robot that has no clue about Asimov's laws, and is therefor unfit for human use.
THE LAWS.
First Law. No robot may harm, or through inaction, allow to come to harm, any human being.
Well if you don't get the report printed you'll get your balls roasted, SOOOO....First Law dictates that it HAS to print for you.
Second Law. A robot must carry out all orders given it by a human being, EXCEPT where such orders conflict with First Law.
You're TELLING the cunt to print it, so it HAS to!
Third Law. A robot must protect it's own existence, save where such protection contravenes First or Second Laws.
If it doesn't print, it's getting a fire extinguisher dropped on it from 30 feet....again Third Law, even if First and Second failed, STILL compells the cunt to print.
Asimov: ignore his wisdom at your peril humanity!!!
And now, because i want to print something off in BLUE I have to go and buy a BLACK ink cartridge. What a bunch of cunts.

Use a lighter blue.
Or use lighter fluid.
It's up to you, but I'd strongly advise the arson option.

if the doc you're printing is an execution order on someone, then that would conflict with the first law.
that's put a spanner in the works!
Not at all, it'd be a positive feature not a bug, nobody should ever be printing any such document.
epson printers are fookin wank!![]()
Had three of em now and they all pack in after a few months!
Last one i got from pcworld, took it back and was tolod that i had to contact epson directly, contacted them and they said they'd get back within the MONTH!
Last one i had was an all singing and dancing printer/scanner/copier jobber that cost £150 6 months later and its in the wheelie bin! ![]()
Have to say tho,use generic ink as opposed to epson ink and they dry up within a week if you dont use em!

Printers do seem to be the thing that bug even the most pro of it pro's, i'm no pro but i know a bit, and they can be a complete bastard, only had an epson once before, would never buy another, have a nice canon now, it even installed fairly easily.
Those all-in-one things are just the most apalling ulcer generators imaginable, you can't print cos the scanner driver's fucked, you can't scan cos the printer driver is fucked, and so on.
5 people I know owned one particular Epson model, and LC600 or 650 if memory serves. For four of them, the printer was just a fucking nightmare, doing all manner of insane shit, plus Epson's party piece of the print heads clogging if the printer is idle for more than 3.2 seconds, requiring you to piss half a pint of ink through them with the head cleaning proggy....you get 6 pages of your printouts and 300 of head tests and unclogs from every cartridge. The fifth person had not one error from it in 5 years and only retired it when someone bought him a laser. It would seem their designs are fine but they're built by useless cunts......having said that, aren't the print heads ON the cartridge? that would suggest the printers are all OK and it's just the carts that stink.
I hate printers. As yous all know I am a mega computer geek and I WILL not have one of those THINGS near me.
BTW Liam I was serious about a lighter blue.....it's a CMYK printer,(Cyan Magenta Yellow blacK (no, I dunno why either)), and any blue darker than cyan will need some black (and maybe a little red) to get right.
I've got a big fuck off £200 Epson scanner, and its the nuts.
The key to it is, that it doesnt need cartridges.
I might scan £40 and email it to Colin.

Science museum might want it.
Stupid Crappy Shitty Interface.
(Atari made their own version ACSI....AMAZINGLY Crappy Shitty Interface).
The only thing SCSI had/has going for it is the level of direct control it gives the host machine over the peripheral. This makes it a nightmare for scanners, who should really just be left to get the fuck on with it.....and excellent for disc control, which is why your CDRW/DVDRW is controlled using SCSI emulated over IDE/SATA/USB/FW....it allows the burning software to low-level operate the drive. Dunno if you can even tell windows is doing it (think it's burried inside part of the ATAPI subsystem in Faildows), but it's kinda shoved in your face in Linux.
Have an all-in-one Doc and no real problems here... but it is HP with built-in networking. The only complaint i have (and can't figure out for the life of me) is that it changes its ip address randomly. It mainly sticks with one of three ip addresses, can't figure out why it does this?
