Last.fm yes or no?

I like last.fm a lot, alway running when my computer is on (although with my recent purchase, the logitech squeezebox boom u don't need to be online anymore to hear internetradio) but why do al the bands that come up on new order radio suck (well most of the time )

Anyone else use this?

yes. i was frightened to death when i entered about 3 bands that i like and it correctly predicted a further 3 dozen.

edit: well, not actually to death, obviously.

i don't even know who wayne newton is. but karen and richard are smashing, and i am very fond of 'love will keep us together.' i find it a cheering antidote to that gloomy song by that salford band.

I listen to the neworderonline tab a lot - tends to be better than the 'new order' tab IMO.

Well, I like it a lot (not enough to pay for Sony!); everytime I try to use a radio station, it craps out after about three songs, though that may be due to Comcrap out my way.

I use it mostly to have general chats about some bands, songs and artists I like.....and to be amused by people like the one goofball who got incredibly annoyed that some people had a tagged a Husker Du track as "indie"...........even if the label in question had been SST. How much more "indie" do you want? (No answers from Negativland fans, please )

I also use it to see what some other people I respect are listening to, rather than on some thread here. (I'm Tackhead on the NOOLscrobblers group BTW)

i dont use a lot of its features though, it has to be said.

Edit: How does it work? It's playing music that's on my hard-drive by streaming it over the net? It's just played the studio version of Shyla by Blondie, even though I've only ever played the live version on here.

Still don't know, but it's done a good job of matching my mood all morning. Guitar-heavy, slightly melancholic, ambient stuff all the way with just the odd nudge every now and again.

Most of the tracks have been stuff I'd NEVER buy, but I've noted a few of the acts down in my book of things to remember and may follow up in the future. (this is an utter lie - I have no book, have written nothing down and, no matter how much I am enjoying this track right now, will never ever buy anything by Blink 92).

I have sent Royser an email recommending one of the tunes though.

How do the artists get paid then? Isn't this just a polite form of piracy?
