Sitting here listening to the band walking round to the war memorial. There are tears in my eyes. All that sacrifice was for nothing. They died to keep Britain free, and now it's little better than Nazi Germany, and on a rapid slide too.
I wonder how those brave old men standing freezing in the park this morning will feel when some uniformed cunt stops them in the street to deman their papers, or arrests them for refusing an unlawful search.

Officially a bank holiday. Shops will be opened like on any ordinary Tuesday.
Forget all this and spend your money for the sake of modern economy. I doubt all these young people (how old were they after four years of daily slaughtery?) died for you to go shopping...

You're right, Cambo. They were dying for capitalist pigs and reigning morons that started the slaughter because of their sentimental pride. Nothing.
If only the Soviet Republic of Bavaria existed long enough - well into 1940s - there would be no WW2 or Soviet sector to the east of the Danube.

This morning, I walked by the monument - the one in the memory of the dead ones. I read all the names - I live in a 2,000 inhabitants village. I noticed that 70% of the people living in my street lost at least one relative. I think that "no comment" is the one of the best options.
At the moment, I am listening to a program on the radio. The speaker plays - if I might say so, with figures. He converted the amount of victims in a sum of tons of meat. Just to imagine the thing makes you unease, doesn't it? And he included everyone, all the people, with no differences of nationality or race, civil or military.
I always find unfair that WW1 is mostly forgotten being overshadowed by WW2. Understandably, there are more WW2 veterans and WW2 had a lasting effect in politics, social and cultural issues in our societies. But really no one cares about the course of the war; most are satisfied by casus belli cliches. It's fading away in collective memory as if it was One Hundred Year War.
