I was looking on you tube to see if anyone had managed to post footage from the Barca test sessions, anxious to see some 2009 spec cars (or at least car parts being tested on 08 cars), in light of the return to real racing cars next year.

All I could find were people obsessing over another important return next year....It's comin home it's comin home it's comin, F1's comin home etc etc etc etc.....

But the thing that lifts my soul and puts a little glow in my little black heart is what tune they use.....I've watched about ten of them, and while one of them used "My Favourite Game", which is a good F1 tune and gets my seal of approval.....they rest.....some of them from KIDS too young to remember the halcyon days of Murray and James Hunt....well....

AUNTY BBC, ARE YOU WATCHING???

With slicks, skinny wings, no fucking adverts, no FUCKING JAMES ALLEN, and the wonderfully gobshiting Brundle AND Coulthard on board, AND a British world champion...the tune would just be too much to hope for. I will tell you this.....if, come 2am on a Sunday morning in March 2009, THAT bassline (the very first thing I EVER learned to play on me plank, I may add....and I'd bet a tenner ever British plankist aged from 20-40 can play it too)......IF that bassline should issue forth from my speakers (at neighbour offending volumes....wankers should be up watching), overdubbed of cours with the shriek of V8's....I will cry my little eyes out with joy regardless of who's there......does that make me a numpty? who cares....it beats football where all they wanna do is run around for a while so they have an excuse to get in a bath with a dozen other naked men......LA PASSIONE my frinds LA PASSIONE.

And now back to the 1990 Monaco GP.

Mate of mine who does CFD work for BMW/Sauber, the Red Cars, and some others told me to check out the 09 Sauber as it was the "ugliest car since about 1985", and "even uglier than the 98 Red Car with the side wings on at Imola" (the Red Car in question for SO offensive to the eye it got the side wings banned).

He wasn't wrong, it's foul! EDIT: would be MUCH nicer without those ENORMOUS and very square front wing end-fences....I seriously hope that's a regulation dodge and not the way the regs specify them!

Still, they always look shite after a regulation change, 10 year ago when they narrowed they were vile, whereas some of the 2008 cars were quite nice.

Cheers for pic, somehow I couldn't manage to find any.

Nope. Never let reality get in the way of abusing the Engerlish :D

Look I've had YEARS of "and there's the young Irish driver in 22nd place" one week and "the fabulous young British driver leads" the next. With Irvine and Donelly and Watson, and Morrison and Turkington in the axe murdere....I mean BTCC. SO....it's fookin my turn now OK?

The only noverner I can think of in F1 works for the evil ones, Massa's race engineer.

Steve, WHERE do you live? surely you must be hoping to hear "AND...THERE...GOES...THE...UNITED...KINGDOM...WORLD...CHAMPION" as the "the fabulous young British driver leads" still implies no ownership on your part ?

kinda my point.

He's losing...our problem.

Winning.....defo yours.

EDIT: in fairness to Mr M. Walker....he did say "Eddie Irvine from Conlig", when he won (at fucking last) in Oz....Much to Eddie's annoyance as he likes to say he's from Newtownards. 'Ards is a shit-hole, but Conlig is like something from a Hammer horror movie, I'd try and deny it too!

Besides, in the absence of the word "great", British applies, even to those in Southern Ireland, though I doubt you'd find many to agree :D

And there's a bloody good reason there's so much of motorsport in and around (particularly the eastern) Home Counties.

Anyway, the "hope" of which I spoke had wank all to do with Lewis. I was talking about the BBC not adopting some hideous tranceshit like ITV did, but instead possibly using the PROPER tune, that's been missing some 12 years.

One thing that always baffles me about the Engerlish......yous lead the world, by some distance in all things motorsport related....and you could not give a stuff.....yet you all go nuts about watching yer footie team get owned by latvia and outer mongolia (and NI FFS! and what a shower of spanners those boys are). Mad dogs and Englishmen eh?

Not much about F1, but...

Why an English team in football, rugby and other sports and a British team at the Olympic Games ?

Also read somewhere that the word British is beginning to become offensive. True or not? From what it said, people should be called by their nationalities only, that is English, Scots, Welsh, Irish... I do not believe it...

Edit : at least something about F1. My point of view is that M. Schumacher killed the interest of the audience.

I thought that nice German lady who lives in London could let us go at any time?

You USED to need us for the shipyard and aircraft plant, you USED to need Wales for coal, now you just need Scotland, for the deep water ports (ie sub penns) of which England has none to speak of.

Honestly...I'm easy.....British by passport and tax, Irish by geography, who cares, I'm from Earth. Doesn't mean I won't call the Engerlish names though ;)

I don't think British is offensive as such, I think we'd all prefer our respective nationalities, especially from others within these Isles, but we'd all accept British from anyone East of Essex/Kent or West of Dingle. What WILL get you a smack in the teeth, ESPECIALLY if you're a septic, is calling me or a Scot or a Sheepfucker, English. And I dare say if you called Al Irish, or Scots, there'd be a crater about a mile wide.

Be nice to the Engerlish mate....remember they invented something you lot have been bragging about for centuries.....Champagne!!!! True that....but you wont hear it much, it means admitting it was warm enough to grow high quality grapes in England BEFORE the Range Rover was even invented.

Football seems to be the only sport anyone cares about here, nothing else matters, we had the most successful olympics ever and it's forgotten about, yet the yobs are still bleating on about winning the world cup 42 years ago, and it's a damn shame that an English woman can sale round the world single handed in record time and get a better reception in france than here.

I love it when there's a big footy game on though, perfect time to go out for a bike ride!

And you're right about the music

Cambo, what do you know of the North East of England?

Teesport- Deep water port

Shipyards-Wear/Tyne/Tees...Take your pick.

It's not so much NEED of Scotland,etc... it's more likely getting something back from them leeching Engerlish taxes for preferential treatment..

Scotland schools alone cost the Engerlish taxpayer a mint..

My kids don't get free meals at school, even if they are(allegedly)just young Jocks with their brains kicked out,to anyone south of Leeds. North of Berwick they eat for free in primary, even if the parents are minted...How can that be right?

I like to pay their way anyhow, but why is this?Fucked if i know:shrug:

There is bound to be corruption involved,granted..

That'd be cos you voteed in a party who's polocy was to starve your kids. As I said above, cut the rest of the UK loose any time you like. A few greasy chips and a dollop of liquified bone meal to a few wee jocks would seem to be worth less that the oil coming from Scotland's waters, but we'll soon see how the bills add up.

Apart from a few drum bashing spackers over here, I doubt you'd find one angry voice in any of the provinces if you let us go tomorrow. But you'd just come in and kill everyone again next time it suited you, so why bother.

PS: I think I said "nearly" no deep water ports. Which sub penns (and primary nuclear tagets) are on the Tees then? And I don't think you can have too many shipyards when you claim the finest navy in the world (all 4 boats of it these days sadly).

re the Britishness thing. The Celts (the native Britons now confined to the western fringes of the UK) have always had a different mentality to that of the more Germanicised Anglo Saxons. Less refined and precise but more rogueish and impassioned.

I thought you might say it's a bit of payback for the North Sea Oil and gas revenues..I'm not so sure that's a valid argument when burdening the taxpayer,as they were privatised and sold off under Thatcher's government,to my mind...We all lost out in that one.

I've never heard of 'Scotland's waters' either...save,say the Lochs..It's nice round there, very scenic.

And no,you definitely said "non,no deep water ports in Engerland"Cambo.

I stand corrected.

It's daft getting pissy about tax stuff (though I quite agree that minted peopoe shouldn't be getting handouts), for every penny that goes from your pocket into the gobs of some horrid little ginger jock kid, there's quids of it that go to pay British companies for the bad arms debts of nsaty little third world dictators that the government underwrote.....or for that matter given away as a reqard to some idiots for fucking the ecconomy up good and proper.

The oil up yonder is getting harder to get to, so time for a free Scotland it is  (FFS take the subs with you, can you imagine!!!!).

On a related point, it occurs to me that all the pain and misery that cunt thatcher visited upon the coal industry (didn't do you lot any good either), may one day turn out to be a real boost for those areas. Think of the pits half full of coal closed down as "unecconomical" (tory for, we can get slaves to dig it out for a handful of leaves in some far of land, so fuck you you labour voting wankers!).....one day, those pits might just have the only coal left to mine.....not too fuckin unecconomical when people are paying a grand a ton is it :D

That was my only real point Cambo..Minted fuckers in Scotland getting it for nish, when it costs the likes of me 30 sovs a week to get my 3 kids's school dinners..I'm not one to get pissy about taxes being spent on the underprivileged.I think that's how they should be spent, for my money, like. And the meals are shite and tiny.I had one last year at Christmas, cos the parents were invited, and my daughter insisted I go along,so,in her words I could 'see how small they are'

She was'nt wrong, and that was Christmas fodder,so I can only imagine how bad they are the rest of the time...I'd do them packed lunches,if I could be pestered...infact I might do.

School dinners were pretty steady when I was at school, mind, and about 40p....Total crap now.

Those pits WILL be open again. Maybe not in my lifetime but they will have to. Drax near selby is the cleanest coal powered station in the world but yet this wanky government refuse to give the owners permission to extend the site. Not because of enviromental issues but because this government DOES NOT LIKE COAL. They prefer to go down the nuclear route, comin from one of the most deprived mining communities in this country, namely my home town of BARNSLEY,this is a bitter pill to swallow. hundreds of thousands of miners lost their jobs in this country because of govermnent meddling, namely thatcher, many communities suffered because of the watering down of trade union legislation and the closure of the deep mines.

Back to government meddling,Mr Budge of UK Coal wanted to re-open a deep mine in Doncaster, again another large former mining community, but the current Labour government poo-pood that idea, citing environmental issues, plans were made, the pit was commercially viable, drax would extend and several thousand former miners and new ones too, would have had a job for life, but no,the government decided to go down the nuclear power route AND get foreign firms in to run them!

Instead those former miners and their families all work in call centres for the minimum wage.

Sorry but as far as i am concerned there is no hope for this country,we are getting back to the bad old days where the government decide everything and no-one has their say.

And we wonder why the BNP are gaining more seats in every election.

People have had enough,it is surely a time for change, though this may not necessarily be for the better.

Jiphy wrote: And... what about sports?

It's to make it hard on ourselves, it's one thing all "Britons" of whatever species seem to revel in. ACtually, team GB steals medals from Northern Ireland (not part of GB, but anyone from here who wins has their tally added to team GB, it's the same with racing....the FIA have only "GB" as a classification, so for years boys from my part of the world have had to race under "false colours".)

BTW you missed a trick......OK so the English invented Champagne and the French do very nicely out of it. Well the English make an absolute killing at motor racing......which, last time I checked, was a French invention.

NUTS mate, yer not wrong about thatch. They reckon she started the whole global warming myth on it's way PURELY as pro-nuclear propaganda. Now I'm ALL for Nuclear, but telling lies is no way to promote it (espeecially when the evil witch doing the promoting is doing so not for technical reasons but cos she hates unions). Besides, we should stop building nuclear until someone works out fusion, then no more nastiness. (though, as I have often opined, if ou take your fission waste back to where the uranium was dug up, mix it with the mine tailings and rebury it.....you've made the place LESS radioactive. Ah well, never mind science.

And if you think we need rid of this goverment....just wait for Whacky Jacqui's GIMP to come online.....so she can read every email, hear every telephone call and check up on every webpage visited, nice to be free.

So in Engerland they aren't even subsidised to any great extent? (in fact it sounds, from the price you give that they're doing quite nicely out of them, gits). Well. you lot ARE 80% of the UK....so get yer pitchforks and torches and head south ;) If it makes you feel any better, the wee jock bairns are probably costing you a tenth what your own are ;)

The oil will run out soon, then they'll let you go ;)

I'm Irish and British and neither and both all at once, it means I can play silly buggers and disown ANYTHING

I would say, the "culture" (LOL) in NI is closer to that in Scotland or Engerland than to that in the Republic, though that reverses somewhat out in the sticks.

I've been trying to work out how this thread got this way. It must be cos I mentioned there being a British champion. I really wasn't claiming Lewis as anything I should get too pround of (beyond following him as a fan since GP2.......it fucking boils my blood to hear people say "he has no talent, he only wins cos he has a McRon......fucking pricks need to spend an afternoon watching him in GP2.....going from last to first....in SPEC cars...ie all identical....talentless? only to a Schufosi or a BNP voter).

The only part of my thread which pertains to "this country" as the UK, is the actual subject.....the BBC, which IS my state broadcaster, to whom I pay my TV license (and all the more gladly now.....Dr Who AND F1 for less than £200 a year, fair enough).

Anyway, F1 is the thing that the Engerlish are better at than anything (except possibly buggering up German expansion plans :D ), and they're letting it slip away. If Donnington hosts a race in 2010, I am a dutch nun and will change my (user)name to Mother Van Der Mere. And if the poison dwarf has his way, that's NO BRITISH GP. So much for Adolf-it's my job to protect the traditional races-Moseley....TRADITIONAL????? MORE TRADITIONAL THAN THE COUNTRY THAT HOSTED THE FIRST F1 W/c RACE......God he's an infected pig's clitoris.

Badly observed article. Hammo had to point his car all on his own. It was Ferret Face, in 1992 who had a button to make it go, a button to make it stop, and a button to generate a pile of shite to tell the press about how "hard" it was to be chaufered round by a computer for 72 laps....or a list of hopeless excuses, should attempt to control the vehicle himself, and consequently park it in the hedge. (non F1-ists who think I'm kidding, just google/wiki for FW14b )
